Position Overview:

The Director, Corporate Recruiting is a seasoned business development professional and people leader who thrives as both a strategist and a practitioner. Reporting to the Executive Director, Career Management & Corporate Recruiting, the Director sets the vision and strategy for Ivey's corporate recruiting function, while operating as a hands-on practitioner within the team. In this dual capacity, they shape how Ivey engages with the employer market, translate market intelligence into insights that strengthen employment outcomes across the HBA, MSc and MBA programs, and elevate Ivey's positioning as a preferred talent partner. Known for credibility with senior industry leaders and a track record of building high-performing teams, the Director coaches and develops the Associate Directors, WIL Manager and other staff, and partners closely with stakeholders across Career Management, the broader school, and the external business community to advance Ivey's reputation in an evolving employment market.

Qualifications:

  1. Business Development & Corporate Relationships Management


  • Design and evolve Ivey's corporate partner tiering and segmentation model (e.g., strategic, growth, emerging, transactional) and assign portfolios across the Associate Directors and WIL Manager to ensure balanced coverage, growth, and accountability.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for at-risk key accounts, complex multi-program/multi-geography partnerships, and negotiations that require Director-level authority or influence.
  • Own executive-level sponsor relationships with senior recruiters, Heads of Talent, and business unit leaders at Ivey's most strategic partners; act as Ivey's senior point of contact for global and multi-market employers.
  • Evolve Ivey's corporate value proposition and go-to-market approach for corporate recruiting, ensuring differentiated positioning against peer business schools.
  • Set the annual business development plan for the team including industries, functions, geographies and firms to prioritize in partnership with the Executive Director, and cascade targets to Associate Directors and WIL Manager.
  • Lead strategic new-market and new-sector entry (e.g., building Ivey's presence in a new industry vertical, geography, or emerging functional area such as AI/climate/health) from opportunity identification through relationship activation.
  • Provide thought leadership externally speaking at industry events, publishing insights, and representing Ivey in senior forums to elevate the school's brand as a talent partner of choice.
  • Approve and oversee cross-portfolio business development campaigns and materials created by the team to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with Ivey's brand.
  • Build and sustain credible, value-added relationships with top domestic and global corporate recruiting partners within strategic accounts, sectors and geographies.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand Ivey's recruiting portfolio across industries and geographies, strengthening the pipeline of companies recruiting from Ivey's HBA, MSc and MBA programs.
  • Engage senior recruiters, talent leaders and industry executives to position Ivey as a preferred partner for talent acquisition and to surface internship and full-time opportunities across both campus and "real-time" recruiting cycles.
  • Actively partner with employers, professional associations, Chambers of Commerce, Canadian High Commissions and industry organizations to develop networks that raise awareness of Ivey talent.
  • Represent Ivey at sector conferences, recruiter events and networking forums to gather market intelligence and strengthen corporate ties.
  • Lead the most senior annual recruitment reviews personally, and ensure the team delivers rigorous reviews across the full portfolio


  1. Strategic Planning, Execution and Metrics


  • Set the multi-year strategic direction for Ivey's corporate recruiting portfolio, including priority industries, geographies and functions Define metrics, targets and goals for corporate recruiting outcomes (including portfolio coverage, business development activity, employer engagement and placement results) aligned with Ivey's strategic priorities.
  • Synthesize employment trends, sector shifts and market intelligence into recruiting strategies and ensure alignment with emerging industry needs.
  • Research and assess best practices, market trends and approaches at other leading business schools to benchmark Ivey's corporate recruiting function and adopt new ideas to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Oversee reporting and analysis of corporate recruiting activity and employment outcomes, providing data-driven recommendations to the Executive Director and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage the budget for the Corporate Recruiting team, ensuring funds are allocated to maximize impact.
  • Partner with the Executive Director on portfolio segmentation and assignment across Associate Directors and WIL Manager to ensure balanced coverage and accountability.


  1. People Leadership & Development


  • Develop, mentor, and empower team members by setting clear expectations, assigning portfolios and workload, and providing coaching and development opportunities that support both performance and professional growth.
  • Manage all human resources activities for the Corporate Recruiting team including recruitment and selection, the development of individualized performance metrics aligned to departmental strategy, annual performance appraisals, performance management, and compliance with Ivey and Western policies. Provide oversight and guidance to the Associate Directors and WIL Manager ensuring consistent leadership practices and team development across the function.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning within the Corporate Recruiting team.


  1. Stakeholder Engagement & Cross Enterprise Collaboration


  • Work closely with the Executive Director, the Director of Career Management Coaching & Programming, Program Directors, Directors of Program Services, and Recruiting & Admissions to promote consistent messaging on the direction and goals of the department and the strategic integration of corporate recruiting insights into the student academic lifecycle.
  • Represent the corporate recruiting perspective on school-wide committees and working groups (e.g., program design, curriculum review, student experience, rankings strategy) to ensure employer market intelligence informs decision-making.
  • Partner with Advancement, Alumni Relations, and Executive Education to identify enterprise-level synergies where corporate partners can engage with Ivey across multiple touchpoints (recruiting, philanthropy, executive learning, board involvement), and lead joint account planning where appropriate.
  • Contribute to the MBA/MSc/HBA admissions process as required including participating in Admissions Committee discussions and, where appropriate, assessing candidates through behavioural-based interviews to maintain alignment between admitted student profiles and evolving employer needs.
  • Establish new partnerships with faculty, industry associations, alumni networks, and external thought partners to strengthen Ivey's positioning in emerging areas of employer interest (e.g., sustainability, AI, entrepreneurship, human capital, impact investing).
  • Build governance and cadence for how the Corporate Recruiting function engages with other Career Management sub-teams and school departments (e.g., regular joint planning with Coaching & Programming, quarterly reviews with Program Services), rather than ad hoc collaboration.
  • Build relationships and interact with colleagues at other leading business schools (nationally and globally) to gain knowledge of best practices, benchmark Ivey's corporate recruiting model, and contribute to thought leadership in the career services landscape.
  • Establish rapport with student association leaders (MBAA, HBAA, MScA) and industry club executives to ensure student-led recruiting activity aligns with corporate partner engagement strategy and does not fragment employer relationships.
  • Partner closely with the Executive Director, the Director, Career Management Coaching & Programming, and the Operations team to ensure corporate recruiting strategy is fully aligned with student-facing coaching and programming from joint strategic planning through to the execution of key employer-facing activities and events (e.g., Get Connected, student club events, WIL placements).
  • Share market insights, trends, and corporate partner expectations with Career Management student-facing teams to inform programming and student readiness (e.g., synchronous and asynchronous learning, pre-Ivey through in-program).
  • Partner with Alumni Relations, Advancement, Programs Office, Recruiting & Admissions, Executive Education, and Marketing & Communications to identify synergies that benefit Ivey students and corporate partners.
  • Build relationships with colleagues at other leading business schools to gain knowledge of best practices, identify opportunities, and contribute to thought leadership in the career services landscape.
  • Define and execute special projects that advance the goals of the Corporate Recruiting team and department and contribute to broader school-wide initiatives as required by the Executive Director.


*There is travel required for this role, nationally, across north America and limited international travel.*

Education & Experience

  • University degree required (preferably in Business, Human Resources or a related field); Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-8 years of relevant professional experience in corporate recruiting, business development, talent acquisition, or a related client-facing role; experience within a Career Management capacity at a leading university/business school is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated track record of building and managing high-performing teams, including direct people leadership responsibility.
  • Extensive knowledge of the undergraduate, Specialty Master's, and MBA employment market, and of corporate hiring practices across one or more targeted business disciplines or industry sectors (e.g., Consulting, Financial Services, Technology, Consumer Packaged Goods, Health Sector, Manufacturing, Energy/Resources) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the global marketplace is considered an asset.
