Responsibilities

Job Description

The Director, Remuneration is responsible for the strategy, direction, development, implementation, administration, and compliance of AFNA's compensation across the North America. This position plays a significant role in ensuring that we are able to attract and retain talent, and also is a strong contributor to our growth agenda. This is a complex role: We have completed multiple acquisitions, which have resulted in multiple benefit plans and systems across our geographies; and pending regulatory activity and economic volatility require continuous improvement and monitoring to ensure compliance and competitiveness in our markets.

Principal Accountabilities

Leadership, management and compliance
  • Provide direct and indirect management for 2 department staff members
  • Provide guidance and support to VP Human Resources and Communications regarding any executive remuneration questions and concerns.
  • Review and execute all contracts and service agreements for compensation program
  • Consult and work closely with Plant Human Resources Managers to identify, understand and address issues related to compensation.
  • Develop solid processes with regard to bonus and merit administration. Embark on process improvement initiatives when required
  • Participate in and author policy documents (i.e. compensation guidelines, stipend/spot bonus and merit policies)
  • Manage all internal and external audit requirements including implementation of audit recommendations from the company's Group Internal Audit (GIA) and the company's external audit teams.


Compensation
  • Review remuneration objectives and strategies for alignment with Amcor Limited philosophies, co-worker performance and company objectives. Evaluate objectives at year-end and present recommendations to Executive Management Team
  • Develop annual merit budget plan and approval process. Work with HR Managers and Directors to develop annual merit recommendations. Present recommendations to the AFNA Leadership Team and Compensation Committee for approval
  • Continually assess job and rem structures to ensure equity and market competitiveness to attract and retain key talent
  • Manage all aspects of variable pay plans, insuring accuracy, equity and timely communication
  • Develop proactive communication and training programs to ensure company compensation and benefits plans are understood by all employees
  • Member of global Amcor Remuneration Network team. Work to ensure alignment and consistency across BGs with co-workers based in Americas.
  • Manage administration of long-term variable Executive Compensation.
  • Manage projects related to Executive Compensation, as requested.


Knowledge and Experience
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in managing compensation, benefits and payroll systems, with international experience preferred. Additional experience in HR Generalist role also preferred.
  • 5+ years of managerial leadership experience, with strong experience in building, leading and managing a team.
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing environment required; experience in global headquarters work environment preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including communication leadership and planning.
  • Proven experience managing external resources / consultants in support of overall strategy and direction
  • English fluency required
  • Strong financial literacy


Education and Certifications

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field is required; MBA preferred.
