Our Team, Your Impact

The Director, Commercial Excellence is a highly visible leadership role within US Innovative Medicines, responsible for driving execution of strategic initiatives, enterprise priorities, launch excellence activities, and cross-functional transformation efforts. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, Head of Commercial Excellence, this position serves as the Project Management Office (PMO) lead for key commercial initiatives, ensuring strategic priorities are translated into actionable plans, measurable milestones, and successful outcomes.
This leader will partner closely with Business Units and cross-functional stakeholders across Marketing, Patient Services, Value & Access, Legal, Regulatory, HR, IT, and Finance to establish governance, coordinate execution, manage risks, and provide leadership visibility into progress across the commercial portfolio.
The role requires an exceptional combination of strategic thinking, project management discipline, operational excellence, executive communication, and stakeholder influence.

Position is based in Parsippany, New Jersey; remote candidates may be considered based on business needs, with East Coast location preferred.

How You'll Spend Your Day

Strategic Project Management & PMO Leadership
• Lead project management activities for high-priority strategic initiatives across US Innovative Medicines.
• Build and maintain integrated project plans, timelines, milestones, resource considerations, risk assessments, and dependency management frameworks.
• Establish and manage governance meetings, decision forums, action logs, steering committee reviews, and project health reporting.
• Provide proactive identification, mitigation, and escalation of project risks, barriers, and execution challenges.
• Ensure initiatives are progressing according to established timelines and strategic objectives.

Commercial Excellence & Operational Execution
• Support continuous improvement initiatives that streamline ways of working, improve efficiency, reduce complexity, and strengthen execution.
• Partner with Innovative Medicines Leadership Team (IMLT) to coordinate operational readiness activities associated with key business initiatives and organizational priorities.
• Develop and maintain metrics that provide transparency into project performance, portfolio health, resource requirements, and business impact.
Executive Communications & Leadership Support
• Support the IMLT to prepare materials for IMLT Team discussions, Town Halls, and business reviews.
• Partner with the IMLT to develop executive-ready presentations, status reports, dashboards, briefing materials, and communications for senior leadership.
• Translate complex project information into concise, actionable updates for executive audiences.
• Support strategic planning and annual operating planning activities through analysis, coordination, and project management support.
Cross-Functional Leadership
• Build strong partnerships with Business Unit leaders and enabling functions to align priorities and accelerate execution.
• Facilitate collaboration among stakeholders with competing priorities while maintaining focus on enterprise objectives.
• Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Your Skills and Experience

Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will be considered.

Education, certification, and experience
• Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 8-12 years of pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, management consulting, commercial operations, strategic planning, or related experience.
• Experience leading large, complex cross-functional initiatives in matrixed organizations.
• Demonstrated success managing multiple high-priority programs simultaneously while aligning diverse stakeholder groups.
• Experience in project management, PMO leadership, strategic planning, business operations, commercial excellence, launch excellence, or transformation initiatives.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical commercialization, launch planning, market access, commercial operations, or brand strategy strongly preferred.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Approximately 10% domestic travel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Occasional:
• Sitting for extended periods of time at workstation or mobile equipment.

Visual Acuity:
• Perform activities such as computer work, preparing and analyzing data, and extensive reading.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
• May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed on site visits (i.e. safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, etc.).

Salary Range

The annual starting salary for this position is between $181,840 - 227,300 annually. Factors which may affect starting salary within this range and level of role may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
