General Summary:

The Director, Business Operations will serve as a strategic and operational partner to the EVP BU Engineering Lead for Data Center BU Engineering. This role will help drive execution across Data Center AI, CPU, custom silicon, networking, hardware systems, and global engineering priorities. Guided and empowered by the EVP BU Engineering Lead, the Director, Business Operations will manage operating cadence, coordinate cross-functional execution, improve decision velocity, and ensure clear alignment across engineering, product, program management, finance, operations, talent acquisition, and executive stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning: Partner with the SVP BU Engineering Leads and the Data Center BU Engineering leadership team to define, prioritize, and execute strategic initiatives across AI inference processors, AI software enablement, server CPU, custom silicon, networking, hardware systems, and rack-scale engineering.
  • Operational Management: Drive the operating rhythm for the organization, including leadership reviews, execution tracking, staffing priorities, roadmap alignment, budget visibility, and follow-through on critical decisions. Navigate complex matrix structures and influence across engineering, product, finance, HR, operations, and executive teams.
  • Communication Liaison: Act as a trusted point of coordination between the SVP BU Engineering Lead, Data Center BU Engineering leaders, peer and support organizations, and key stakeholders. Prepare executive-ready communications, leadership updates, decision briefs, organizational messages, and follow-up action plans.
  • Project Management: Lead high-priority cross-functional initiatives from concept through execution, including engineering buildout plans, leadership hiring priorities, AI300 readiness, hardware systems scale-up, and process improvements that increase organizational speed and accountability.
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish and manage key performance indicators, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms to track hiring, program execution, engineering milestones, budget, risks, and organizational capacity.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify execution gaps, organizational bottlenecks, and decision blockers; develop practical options, escalate appropriately, and drive closure with clear ownership and timelines.
  • Meeting Coordination: Shape agendas, materials, and follow-through for key leadership forums, staff meetings, operating reviews, customer-facing discussions, and executive updates to ensure meetings are focused, decision-oriented, and productive.
  • Executive Support: Coordinate with the EVP's administrative support and leadership team to prioritize executive meetings, customer engagements, travel, internal reviews, and stakeholder follow-ups.
  • Risk Assessment: Evaluate risks across roadmap execution, staffing, customer commitments, organizational scale, and cross-functional dependencies; provide recommendations that enable timely and informed decisions.


Additional Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years in a leadership role supporting complex engineering, semiconductor, cloud, AI, data center, or infrastructure organizations.


Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Marketing, or related field and 10+ years of business operations or related experience.
OR
Associate's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Marketing, or related field and 12+ years of business operations or related experience.

*Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master's = one year, Doctorate = two years) of work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or Master's degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or a related field of study.
  • 12+ years of experience in engineering operations, strategy, product/program execution, or business operations within semiconductor, cloud, AI, data center, or infrastructure environments.
  • Strong technical and business acumen with the ability to operate across AI hardware, software platforms, CPU, networking, custom silicon, hardware systems, and customer-facing engineering priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders, drive clarity in ambiguity, manage executive communications, and deliver results in a fast-moving, matrixed global organization.
  • 10+ years of experience with ERP, CRM (e.g., Sales Force), business analytics (e.g., Tableau), Microsoft Suite, or related systems/applications.
  • 5+ years of relevant technology industry experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a large matrixed organization.
  • 5+ years in a leadership role with direct reports (only applies to positions with direct reports).
  • 4+ years of working with P&L responsibility, operating budgets, and/or project financials.
  • 4+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Vice President level and above).


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develops cross-departmental operational strategies for business unit strategy and initiatives and mentors' others on relevant business systems, products, processes, and procedures. Manages operational activities for business growth.
• Presents and communicates on systems enhancements, products, processes, and metrics.
• Oversees and implements processes improvements for customer setup activities and drives the delivery of key materials and information to customers.
• Flow price quotation to customers in coordination with business unit segment lead as well as financial manager, contribute to deal discussions, issue pricing book for customers, and resolve complex pricing execution issues.
• Reviews market or KPIs and establishes department goals. Oversees the management of overall customer opportunity and forecast.
• Manage and maintain regional databases to create efficiency and ensure security.
• Oversees demand planning to support product or customer requirements. Monitors supply and demand to anticipate issues and works with stakeholders to drive root cause and prevent future gaps or discrepancies.
• Oversees and communicates market research to align on sell in/sell through trends, value chain, and market shares, and work with stakeholders to inform data-driven decisions.
• Manages development and execution of plans based on an expert understanding of program/product metrics (e.g., forecasts, budgets, demands, KPIs).
• Oversees forecasting processes and guides team on analysis and reporting. Establishes key metrics needed based on departmental roadmap and technical and organizational needs.
• Finds solutions to abstract problems in variable situations that typically require complex analysis, interpretation, or evaluation of intangible factors. Seeks information across the organization to identify fundamental patterns/trends.
• Collaborates closely with high-level representatives across functions and partners globally to develop, integrate, and/or execute large initiatives.
• Acts as a liaison for key stakeholders across the organization and externally to communicate information and resolve conflicts in implementation schedules, operational challenges, or other complexities.
• Oversees multiple, large, and complex projects that are relatively diverse in nature and objectives. Ensures project goals are met and assists with overcoming barriers.
• Serves as a change agent by identifying appropriate opportunities for change and then communicating the implications and rework associated with that change.

Level of Responsibility:
• Works independently with no supervision.
• Provides supervision to other supervisors/managers who are direct reports.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:
$177,600.00 - $266,400.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm.
