B&N Director, Alternative Delivery Responsibilities:

This role provides strategic, pursuit, and delivery leadership for alternate delivery transportation projects, serving as a senior project manager and advisor to clients, contractor partners, and internal teams while driving growth, quality and performance.

1. Strategy, Positions & Client Leadership
  • Assist in defining and executing the firm's alternate delivery strategy aligned with transportation clients and growth objectives in Florida (i.e. low-bid design-build, adjusted-score design-build and modified-phased design-build).
  • Collaborate with current firm leaders in market positioning with FDOT, toll agencies and major local owners; identify and shape upcoming opportunities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on procurement, delivery methods, and risk posture.
  • Represent the firm through industry engagement and thought leadership.

2. Pursuit & Capture Leadership
  • Lead the end-to-end capture process for alternate delivery pursuits, including go/no-go decisions, teaming, pricing strategy and win themes.
  • Select and negotiate teaming arrangements with contractors and specialty partners.
  • Direct proposal development, interviews, and shortlist strategies aligned with client evaluation criteria.
  • Maintain a robust pipeline of alternate delivery opportunities.

3. Project Delivery, Technical Excellence & Risk Management
  • As Design Director or Design Manager, provide oversight for major alternate delivery projects to ensure scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety performance.
  • Lead resolution of critical technical, constructability, permitting, and stakeholder challenges.
  • Apply risk-based design, cost, schedule, and quality management practices to minimize exposure and avoid claims.
  • Champion integration of design, construction, and operations across all disciplines.


4. Team & Talent Development
  • Grow the alternate delivery practice, including hiring, mentoring, retention and succession planning.
  • Develop internal capabilities through coaching and training in alternate delivery best practices.
  • Plan and allocate resources across concurrent pursuits and projects.
  • Foster a high-performance culture emphasizing accountability, collaboration and quality.

5. Financial, Operational & Performance Management
  • Drive financial and operational performance, including revenue forecasting, margin, backlog and utilization.
  • Lead contract negotiations with a balanced focus on competitiveness and risk mitigation.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators for pursuits and delivery.
  • Promote continuous improvement, innovation and lessons learned across the practice.


Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration required in Florida; or ability to register through reciprocity
  • 20+ years of related experience
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to foster collaboration
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
