Full Job Description
SLB is seeking an experienced Directional Driller Specialist to join our team in Alberta. In this field-based role, you will be responsible for steering wells at rig sites using SLB directional drilling technology, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable service delivery to our customers. The role involves field assignments primarily across Alberta, with additional work in British Columbia.

We are looking for someone with strong directional drilling expertise, particularly in SAGD and heavy oil operations, who is comfortable making real-time drilling decisions in a fast-paced field environment. The ideal candidate works effectively under pressure, collaborates closely with other Directional Drillers, MWD (Measurement While Drilling) Specialists, and rig personnel, and brings strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support safe and efficient well delivery.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Execute directional drilling operations at rig sites using SLB technology to safely and accurately steer wells.
  • Identify and manage operational risks through job risk analysis and established service delivery processes.
  • Collaborate with Directional Drillers, MWD Specialists, and customers to support safe and efficient wellsite operations.
  • Maintain compliance with company, customer, and regulatory standards through required assessments and wellsite inspections.
  • Participate in Service Quality, HSE, and continuous improvement initiatives, implementing action plans as required.
  • Build and maintain effective customer relationships while supporting the delivery of SLB products and services.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of directional drilling experience is required.
  • Previous SAGD and heavy oil directional drilling experience is required.
  • Experience working in Western Canadian drilling operations is considered an asset.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and analytical problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and ability to operate an SLB vehicle.
  • Ability to travel to and work at rig sites across Alberta and British Columbia.
  • Must be legally authorized to work and reside in Canada without company sponsorship.
