Director, Procurement - Marketing Spend Sourcing

Franchise World Headquarters, LLC

Shelton, CT

Position Overview

The Director, Procurement - Marketing Spend Sourcing will own sourcing strategy, execution, and delivery across approximately $450M in marketing spend, with a clear mandate to deliver value back to Subway's franchise system by freeing up cash for reinvestment. Reporting directly to the VP of Procurement, this leader will elevate Subway's marketing sourcing capability, build supplier relationships and category strategies, and influence senior stakeholders across the enterprise. This is a high-visibility, greenfield role: Subway's Procurement function is in early transformation with full CEO and CFO sponsorship, and the right candidate is a proven sourcing operator who can think strategically, execute quickly, and build credibility in an environment where procurement is being established as a strategic enterprise asset for the first time.

Responsibilities
• Own and lead sourcing strategy across all marketing spending categories including Product Marketing, Brand Marketing, Digital Marketing, Performance/Growth Marketing, Shopper/Retail Marketing, Content Marketing, Influencer & Partnership Marketing, Customer Marketing, Events & Experiential Marketing, and PR & Communications.
• Design and execute strategies to optimize marketing spending; develop, lead, and execute competitive sourcing events, supplier negotiations, and contract award recommendations in close collaboration with key stakeholders.
• Build and maintain a multi-year category management roadmap aligned to business priorities and key performance targets; identify and quantify opportunities using spend analytics, market benchmarks, and supplier intelligence.
• Own the marketing spending savings pipeline from opportunity identification through contracting and Finance validation; produce Finance-grade reporting on cost avoidance achievement, pipeline status, and delivery confidence in close partnership with FP&A; establish and enforce tracking methodology that meets VP Procurement and Finance standards.
• Build trusted working relationships with senior stakeholders across Marketing and business unit leadership so sourcing decisions happen with the business, not to it; manage strategic supplier relationships balancing cost, quality, risk, and partnership value; lead supplier business reviews and performance management for strategic suppliers.
• Partner with the VP of Procurement and peers to establish sourcing processes, templates, governance, and policy standards for the marketing spend pillar; contribute to the selection and implementation of procurement technology including spend analytics, CLM, and project tracking tools; manage and develop direct report.

Qualifications
• Strategic sourcing expertise: end-to-end RFx design, competitive bidding, and negotiation across a broad portfolio of marketing spend categories.
• Category management capability: multi-year roadmaps and category strategies across a portfolio of marketing subcategories.
• Financial acumen: ability to build supplier business cases, model TCO, and translate sourcing activity into realized financial value with Finance-grade rigor.
• Proficiency with spend analytics tools and spend cube data to identify opportunity, track execution, and validate value.
• Contract management knowledge: authoring, redlining, and managing complex multi-year supplier agreements; understanding of commercial risk and liability.
• Experience with eSourcing platforms and procurement technology (Spend Analytics and CLM required).
• Executive presence: comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders and translating procurement value into business language, including board-ready materials.
• Proven stakeholder influence: earns credibility and drives alignment across marketing without direct authority.
• Principled negotiator who can manage high-stakes supplier relationships while protecting long-term partnership value.
• Builder mentality: thrives in a greenfield environment; comfortable with ambiguity and able to establish structure, process, and governance where little exists.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• 12+ years of progressive procurement and strategic sourcing experience, with at least 8 years in a leadership role.
• Demonstrated track record of delivering realized savings and financial value on large marketing spend portfolios.
• Experience driving or supporting the transformation of a procurement function - not just operating within a mature one.
• Proven ability to lead and operate at the executive level.

Preferred Qualifications
• MBA or advanced degree preferred; equivalent work experience with demonstrated and sustained financial delivery considered.
• CPM, CPSM, or equivalent procurement certification.
• Experience with a global restaurant, QSR, Retail, CPG, or franchise brand.
• Experience selecting and implementing procurement technology including eSourcing, CLM, and spend analytics platforms.

What do we offer?
• Insurance Plans (Medical, Life)
• Pension/401K/RSP (country specific)
• Competitive Bonus
• Mobility Allowance
• Tuition Reimbursement
• Company Holidays
• Volunteering time
• And More.....

Compensation: The base pay range for this role is $163,000-$203,800 annually

Pay within this range will be determined in good faith based on job-related factors, which may include skills, experience, education/training, location, and internal equity.
