Director, Human Resources
Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift
Position Summary:
Plan, organize and direct all aspects of the Human Resources function including Human Resources and Labor Relations.
Responsibilities
- Participates in the development of hospital objectives, personnel philosophy and strategic planning in relation to personnel programs and trends in human resources management and labor relations. Initiates specific activities to meet objectives.
- Evaluates changing demographic, legal and technical developments in all fields affecting Human Resources and develops responsive activities.
- Assures compliance with regulatory and legal requirements; ensuring appropriate selection, supervision and employment of personnel.
- Maintains personnel information for administrative and regulatory purposes; ensuring the currency, security and accuracy of data for all employees.
- Maintains statistical information for administrative and regulatory purposes; ensuring the currency, security and accuracy of data for the development of hospital-wide statistics and cost projections.
- Optimizes the use of computer capabilities to provide informational services as needed.
- Maintains the medical center-wide Policies/Information/ Procedures manual.
- Reviews personnel actions such as grievances, discipline, compensation and promotions.
- Develops objectives for the Human Resources Department and initiates specific activities to meet them.
- Manages and integrates the various functions of the department, including compensation, benefits, employment, labor relations, and record keeping.
- Reviews department performance in relation to goals.
- Implement changes to effect continual improvement in the services provided.
- Develops department budget for staffing and capital expenses and ensures that department operates within allocated funds.
- Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Maintains professional affiliations as appropriate and participates in professional activities to keep abreast of developments in hospital administration and personnel fields.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Master's or bachelor's degree required or equivalent education/experience in personnel administration, business or behavioral sciences. Must be skilled in use of personal computer; must demonstrate skill at using desk top software, including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and graphics applications as required. Knowledge of computer systems is helpful.
Minimum Experience:
Ten (10) years of previous experience in hospital personnel administration required.
