How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As the Director, Global Product Management and Marketing, you will lead and develop a team of Product Managers along with the marketing team organized by business line, providing strategic direction and oversight for the global product portfolio. You will be responsible for building high-performing teams, driving product strategy across multiple verticals, and ensuring alignment between product roadmaps and corporate objectives while fostering cross-functional collaboration across engineering, sales, and operations.

1. Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Product Managers, each responsible for specific business lines or product verticals
  • Lead, mentor and develop a marketing team to bring our brand and products to market
  • Establish clear performance objectives, conduct regular performance reviews, and create individual development plans for team members
  • Build and maintain a high-performing product management organization through recruiting, onboarding, and talent development
  • Foster a collaborative culture that encourages innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Provide coaching and guidance to Product Managers on strategic thinking, market analysis, and stakeholder management
  • Allocate resources effectively across business lines and ensure balanced workload distribution


2. Strategic Product Portfolio Management
  • Oversee and integrate product roadmaps across all business lines, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and market opportunities
  • Drive portfolio-level decisions on new product investments, resource allocation, and product lifecycle management
  • Establish standardized product management processes, methodologies, and best practices across the organization
  • Review and approve business cases for new product initiatives prepared by Product Managers
  • Monitor portfolio performance metrics including revenue, margin, market share, and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure effective IP, patent, and trademark strategies are maintained across all product lines
  • Work with product managers, managing directors, and business leaders to implement digital strategies across the segment


3. Cross-Functional Leadership & Stakeholder Management
  • Partner with senior leadership to define and execute product strategy that supports business objectives
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration between Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Operations
  • Present portfolio strategy, roadmaps, and performance to executive leadership and board members
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Product Management and other departments to resolve conflicts and align priorities
  • Represent the product organization at industry events, customer meetings, and strategic partner discussions
  • Drive the SIOP process by ensuring accurate 18-month roadmaps and demand forecasting from all business lines


4. Market Strategy & Competitive Intelligence
  • Guide Product Managers in identifying market trends, competitive threats, and opportunities for growth
  • Oversee pricing and positioning strategies across the product portfolio to maximize profitability
  • Ensure comprehensive competitive analysis and market intelligence informs product decisions
  • Direct market research initiatives and customer feedback programs to validate product-market fit
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for product performance, market penetration, and customer adoption
  • Manage strategic OEM and partner relationships at the portfolio level


5. Product Development Oversight
  • Provide strategic oversight of new product development initiatives across all business lines
  • Ensure Product Managers work effectively with engineering teams to deliver products that meet market requirements
  • Review and approve product launch plans, ensuring readiness across sales, marketing, operations, and support functions
  • Establish quality standards for product documentation, specifications, and training materials
  • Monitor project execution against budget, schedule, and margin requirements
  • Drive post-launch reviews and continuous improvement processes

Required Experience
  • 10+ years of progressive product management experience in manufacturing or industrial environments, with at least 4 years in a people leadership role
  • Proven track record of building, leading, and developing high-performing product management teams
  • Experience managing product portfolios across multiple business lines or verticals with P&L accountability
  • Strong leadership presence with ability to influence and drive change across all organizational levels
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing product strategies that deliver revenue and margin growth
  • Deep knowledge of product lifecycle management, go-to-market strategies, and product development processes
  • Experience working in global, matrixed organizations with cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, production processes, quality control, and cost optimization
  • Background in electrical products, industrial equipment, or related technical fields preferred
  • Demonstrated Digital product strategy in B2B environments
  • Strong business acumen including financial analysis, pricing strategy, and market economics

  • Experience in solar powered systems, marine, or aviation navigational aids industries is advantageous


Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree required in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical), Business, or related technical field. MBA or advanced degree preferred. Product Management certifications (e.g., AIPMM, Pragmatic Institute) are a plus.


Travel & Working Environment
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 30%) to meet with teams, customers, partners, and attend industry events
