Director of Finance/Accounting

STATUS: Exempt-Salaried

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Accounting/Finance Services Director is responsible for all accounting and finance activities, including management of accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management, finance-related statistical reporting and calculations, preparation of annual operating budgets, and preparation of all interim financial reports. All job duties are to be performed in accordance with established standards as described in the Quality Assurance Manual for the department.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

Primary Job Duties:

-Responsible for critical decision-making. Must regularly exercise discretion and judgment to perform work which is intellectual and varied in character, the accomplishment of which cannot be standardized as to time.

-Provide interim financial reports and conduct financial performance analysis.

-Keep current with advances in the field of accounting.

-Must know and be able to follow generally accepted accounting principles.

-Maintain General Ledger and supporting documentation in accordance with GAAP.

-Maintain and calculate deferred revenue schedules (Entrance Fees).

-Oversee debt service and maintain debt-related schedules.

-Responsible for quarterly and annual debt-related calculations and reporting.

-Prepare all payroll tax returns, state property tax returns and coordinate the preparation of the federal tax returns.

-Perform monthly close of all accounting systems and reconcile same as needed.

-Establish and maintain adequate internal controls in accordance with GAAP.

-Conduct in-house audits.

-Coordinate and manage annual financial statement audit.

-Responsible for preparation of annual operating budget, including schedule and presentation.

-Coordinate or prepare annual Medicare Cost Report and maintain related records as required by Medicare regulations.

-Perform all other tasks related to financial services as needed and those deemed necessary by Administration.
