Full Job Description
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) - Diabetes provides expert clinical practice, consultation, education, research, and leadership in the specialized field of diabetes management. This advanced nursing role supports complex patients with diabetes and glycemic management issues throughout hospitalization by integrating national standards, evidence-based practice, and advanced clinical judgment. The CNS serves as an expert practitioner and resource to, educators, front line nursing staff, providers, and the interprofessional team; develops and evaluates patient and professional education; leads practice improvements; and contributes to policy, standards, and outcomes related to diabetes care. The CNS functions in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital and promotes quality, safety, and excellence across the continuum of care.

Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing or related health field required.
  • A terminal degree - Professional Doctorate or Ph.D. is preferred.
  • Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse by the State of Florida.
  • Current certification as a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES)
  • [formerly CDE] from a nationally recognized body as determined by the Board of Nursing.
