DESCRIPTION: The DevOps Architect at 27J Schools plays a crucial role in leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of a secure, scalable, and adaptable IT infrastructure. This position requires deep expertise in system architecture, continuous integration, and cross-team collaboration. Additionally, the role carries significant responsibility for overseeing all data interchanges within the district, ensuring the integrity, security, and efficient flow of information across various platforms. This comprehensive oversight is vital to supporting the district's technological growth and operational efficiency.

SALARY: Admin/Professional/Technical Pay Schedule, Range 10, starting at approximately $8,483.16 per month (equivalent to $101,798.00 annually), depending on recent relevant experience. 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, 260 day / 12 month work schedule. Position eligible for benefits.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and Develop Scalable Infrastructure: Architect and deploy a resilient and adaptable data infrastructure that supports the district's diverse technological requirements. This includes planning for system growth, ensuring data security, and integrating new technologies both within and outside the District (e.g., Clever, Canvas, multiple online curriculum vendors), developing and maintaining data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes to ensure efficient data collection, storage, and retrieval using the appropriate development tools (e.g., Microsoft SQL, Visiual Studio, Report Builder). Additionally, establish data governance protocol to protect sensitive information and ensure data meets integrity standards.
  • Innovate and Stay Current with Industry Trends: Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in IT especially in th education space, ensuring that the district's infrastructure remains cutting-edge and capable of supporting future needs. Promote the adoption of innovative solutions.
  • Lead and Coordinate Projects: Manage the lifecycle of complex IT projects most notably for the student information system and adjacent software (e.g., Infinite Campus, Traversa, Lexia, etc.), ensuring they meet the district's strategic goals. This involves coordinating cross-functional teams by assuming continuous contact and liaison with administrators, vendors, users, and IT staff, maintaining project timelines, and delivering high-quality results.
  • Optimize and Maintain System Performance: Implement continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes to enhance system reliability and efficiency. This includes monitoring performance, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing resource allocation.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Ensure that all systems, processes, and configurations are thoroughly documented. This includes maintaining compliance with data privacy laws and district policies, and preparing reports for leadership.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration and Systems Integration: Engage with key stakeholders (e.g., District administrators, principals, school/office staff, State Agencies, the vendor community and other IT staff members) to understand their needs and translate them into actionable technical solutions. Oversee the integration of new software and systems into the existing IT framework.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience. A degree may be substituted with 7 years of progressively responsible experience in a related field.
  • A minimum of five years in a DevOps or similar technical role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Must pass Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.


SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EQUIPMENT:
  • Proven expertise in creating and managing scalable, secure IT systems.
    • Preferred experience with a student information system and a data warehouse-especially Infinite Campus. Experience working in a public K-12 school district or public agency serving and supporting a richly diverse community is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in various programming languages and cloud platforms.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft development environment (e.g., SQL, Visiual Studio, Microsoft Server Integration Services (SSIS), Microsoft Server Management Studio (SSMS).
  • Strong project management skills, particularly in an Agile environment.
    • Use of Confluence is highly desirable.
  • Excellent leadership and team development capabilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of security practices and data privacy regulations.
  • Ability to align technology initiatives with broader organizational goals.
