Full Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE

The Development Engineer will support the Product Development Team for the development of new stainless-steel propellers, enhancements to existing propellers, as well as new products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Project Management: Lead cross-functional teams through the fabrication process of prototypes utilizing industry best practices (PMI). Ensure projects are completed on time, to print design, within budget, and to the highest Yamaha quality standards.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate reporting of project tracking, costs, timing, noting any risks, potential delays and providing regular reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Additional technical reporting relative to variations and other key characteristics may be required as needed.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce costs, and increase efficiency. Implement best practices and lessons learned from past projects towards new products to help drive a Lean culture.


REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Proficient or aptitude to develop proficient understanding of investment casting and capable to guide key decisions with the engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve technical challenges and maintain key characteristics and well as program timing.
  • Must be proficient in the use of quality measuring methods and standards, capable to utilize CMM and vison scanning a bonus. Familiarity with blueprint, dimensioning and tolerances including GD&T is essential.
  • Outstanding problem-solving abilities and technical expertise and critical thinker, able to solve problems.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with vendors, team members, and executives.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools (i.e. MSOffice, MSProject, SAP)
  • Excellent project management skills with a proven track record of successfully managing complex product development projects at various stages of lifecycle.
  • Strong CAD competency utilizing industry standard software (i.e. Solidworks, Creo, Siemens NX)


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Materials Science / Industrial Engineering, or related Engineering degree from an accredited University. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience in product development within a manufacturing environment, experience working within the casting industry a plus.
