Summary/Primary Purpose: This role is responsible for annual campaign managerment, securing major gifts, including individual and corporate foundation gifts with assistance from Western Division (WST) grants team and other donor relations staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Works directly with the Area Commander for Strategic Development, and in cooperation Command officers and key staff, as well as with WST Director of Philanthropy to develop, coordinate and implement a fundraising plan to meet budgeted goals for current and expanded operations and setting specific goals for all fundraising
• Participates in administrative planning and evaluation of fundraising
• Develops and implements events that will increase fundraising and local awareness to reach established goal.
• In partnership with WST Communication Department manages media relations strategy with local media to include preparation and distribution of media releases, public service announcements, also identifies and secures speaking opportunities for the Capital Area Commander's and other staff as designated.
• In partnership with WST Communications Department, manages efforts to raise funds digitally and via social media, and to create promotional materials that make a case for support programs and services throughout the Area Command.
• Actively participates in Advisory Board and committee meetings, steers the development committee.
• In partnerhip with WST Development Department, is responsible for securing individual, foundation and cororate gifts, as well as pledges from prospects donors, developing their interest, cultivating relationships and stewardship.
• Creates advertising campaigns as requested/needed in cooperation with WST Communications
• Partners with Capital Area Commanders and Social Service Coordinator in completing and submitting Consulting Corps Officers and key staff as necessary.
• Coordinates direct mail campaign and tracks progress of appeals, in cooperation with WST planned giving and direct mail leadership to coordniate the development
• Oversee SalesForce database entries, working directly with WST Data Department, to assure accuracy of donor records and

Special Events & Community Engagement Specialist

Education and/or Experience:Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years' work-related experience or a combination of training, education, and experience. Comprehencive experience in nonprofit fund raising, including prospect research, donor relations, and solicitation is preferred.

Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None required, however, CFRE credentials or similar are a plus.
