About the Role

We're looking for a Developer to join our development team in Nashville, TN. In this role, you'll build and maintain applications that support critical parts of Ōnin's business - from internal operational tools and employee-facing applications to third-party integrations and large-scale data workflows.

This is a great opportunity for a developer with a strong programming and web development foundation who enjoys solving real-world problems, digging into complex systems, and building technology that makes people's jobs easier.

What You'll Do
  • Design, develop, and maintain web-based applications and software solutions
  • Build and maintain APIs and integrations between internal and third-party systems
  • Work with relational databases, SQL-based systems, and large datasets
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications, APIs, databases, and external integrations
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code and participate in code reviews
  • Improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of existing applications
  • Develop queries, reporting processes, and data integrations
  • Participate in application architecture and technical design discussions
  • Work with cloud-hosted applications and services
  • Collaborate with developers and business teams to turn business problems into practical technical solutions
  • Participate in daily standups, project planning, and the software development lifecycle
  • Maintain technical documentation and work across the stack as project needs evolve

Ideal Candidate
  • Hands-on experience developing software or web-based applications
  • Strong understanding of programming fundamentals, web development, and HTTP/API concepts
  • Experience working with relational databases and SQL
  • Familiarity with Git and modern version-control workflows
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar technologies and understand how applications and services interact
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with modern programming languages, web frameworks, REST APIs, cloud platforms, containerized applications, third-party integrations, or large datasets is a plus
  • Curious and comfortable digging into existing code, logs, database queries, APIs, and production issues
  • Able to work independently while collaborating closely with a team and balancing technical quality with delivering useful solutions
  • Our technology environment includes Python, Django, Django REST Framework, PostgreSQL, SQL, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Bootstrap, Git/GitHub, Google Cloud Platform, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, REST APIs, and third-party integrations. You don't need experience with everything in our stack on day one.

Why Join Us?

At The Ōnin Group, you'll be part of a small development team where you can make a direct impact on the technology we build. You'll have opportunities to understand business problems, help design solutions, build and deploy applications, and improve them based on real-world use.

We empower our employees through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), ensuring you share in our success. Our Ōninite Total Rewards program includes:
