The Magna Exteriors portfolio of products includes access systems such as liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front-end modules including fascia, active aerodynamic systems and other lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and other industrial markets.

Job Responsibilities:

General Job Duties:

  • Exhibit an objective, fair, and professional attitude consistent with the Magna Employee's Charter and maintain a positive, productive workplace.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, sound judgment, problem solving, and a continuous-improvement mindset while following Decostar policies, safety rules, quality standards, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Perform cross-functional assignments as required and communicate effectively with technical teams, business partners, management, vendors, and other stakeholders.


Specific Job Duties:

  • Lead the design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, maintenance, and support of business-critical software applications, integrations, APIs, automation, and data solutions.
  • Translate business requirements into secure, scalable, supportable technical designs; document architecture decisions, data flows, interface contracts, dependencies, non-functional requirements, and implementation tradeoffs.
  • Establish, document, and lead a practical SDLC covering intake and prioritization, requirements, design, development, peer review, testing, release readiness, deployment, post-release validation, and ongoing support.
  • Create and govern change management controls, including approvals, segregation of duties, traceability, release notes, test evidence, implementation plans, rollback plans, and production change records.
  • Define development standards for source control, branching, code review, secure coding, automated testing, CI/CD, environment management, coding quality, and technical documentation.
  • Lead solution and code reviews, coach developers, coordinate delivery priorities, and ensure deviations from approved designs or standards are documented, risk-assessed, and remediated.
  • Design and maintain relational database solutions, including schemas, stored procedures, functions, views, indexes, data models, ETL processes, and application-to-database integrations.
  • Apply DBA logic to database provisioning, configuration, security, access control, patching, upgrades, performance tuning, capacity planning, monitoring, backup and recovery, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery.
  • Govern database and schema changes across environments; coordinate deployments, validate recoverability, investigate performance or data-integrity issues, and maintain database inventories, runbooks, and recovery procedures.
  • Implement data quality, reconciliation, lineage, retention, auditability, and access controls that protect the accuracy, consistency, availability, and security of enterprise data.
  • Partner with Security, Infrastructure/Operations, QA, Enterprise Architecture, business owners, data owners, and vendors to align application delivery with operational, compliance, and business requirements.
  • Lead root-cause analysis for application, database, integration, and release incidents; implement corrective actions and improve engineering practices based on production performance and lessons learned.
  • Develop and report meaningful delivery and reliability measures such as cycle time, defect leakage, test results, change failure rate, rollback rate, availability, backup success, capacity, and recovery results.
  • Provide technical leadership for modernization, application rationalization, cloud or managed-platform adoption, and the reduction of technical debt and operational risk.
  • Provide occasional on-call or escalation support for critical application, integration, database, or deployment issues.


Skills and Experience Required:

  • Advanced application programming knowledge in one or more enterprise development languages and strong proficiency with SQL; Python, C#, .NET, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or comparable languages preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of software architecture, APIs, integrations, object-oriented design, source control, code review, automated testing, CI/CD, and secure development practices.
  • Strong working knowledge of relational database administration and engineering, including data modeling, query optimization, indexing, security, backup and recovery, high availability, monitoring, and controlled schema deployment.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, lead, and continuously improve SDLC, release governance, and IT change management processes in an auditable operating environment.
  • Knowledge of Agile and hybrid delivery approaches and their integration with formal architecture, quality, release, and change controls.
  • Ability to lead technical reviews, mentor team members, manage multiple priorities, communicate tradeoffs clearly, and convert business needs into measurable technical outcomes.
  • Working knowledge of reporting, analytics, ETL, data governance, cloud platforms, and manufacturing or enterprise application environments is preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in software development, application delivery, database engineering/administration, systems integration, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated senior-level experience leading technical designs, complex application changes, database solutions, production releases, and cross-functional delivery activities.
  • Experience establishing or governing SDLC and change management practices, including requirements traceability, testing evidence, approvals, deployment readiness, rollback planning, and post-release support.
  • Experience supporting business-critical applications and databases in environments where availability, security, data integrity, auditability, and recovery are essential.


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field required. A master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and highly relevant experience is preferred.


Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires the ability to work at a computer workstation for up to eight (8) hours per day, perform repetitive keyboard and mouse use, maintain good close-distance vision, and lift up to 10 pounds on an infrequent basis.   • You will receive training to perform your job on an on-going basis concurrent with Decostar business operations. Training areas will include safety, quality, continuous improvement and other job specific training that is determined to be an essential part of your job and Decostar business operations.
