What will you do?
A day in the life of a Designer – Women’s Apparel at The North Face looks a little like this.
- You’ll work with and support the team on elevating design expression and creating best-in-industry women’s performance and performance inspired apparel that can take people to the far corners of the world, in style and comfort. You will support the Women’s Apparel Design Team on the creation and execution of seasonal product design work and creative vision.
- You will work on product that is built for Snow / Climb / Trail, and also lifestyle product that is inspired by these territories.
- You will work with and support the design team with seasonal research, tool updates, concepts, product design and tech-packing.
- You work on moderately complex products, including seasonal research and insights, presentation tools, concepts, design deliverables, and product design. You’re a collaborative member of the design team and work with cross functional partners.
- You design and create a broader range of products in collaboration with design leadership. You present design work at seasonal got to market gates, giving and receiving constructive feedback.
- You have a solid understanding for brand aesthetic, DNA, materials and technologies, fit and silhouette, cost engineering, in support of consumer and business needs across both performance lead and performance inspired products.
- You have a passion for details, learning and contribute to team reviews, workshops, and milestones.
What do you need to succeed?
We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you’ll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 4+ years of experience and professional achievements within the design and product creation field.
The foundation skills you will need in this position are:
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or equivalent relevant experience
- 4+ years of experience in performance and lifestyle apparel design, preferably with high focus on women’s apparel.
- Preferred knowledge of both outerwear and sportswear design and product construction.
- Strong product acumen with working knowledge of apparel product development processes, including design, development, sourcing and manufacturing
- Proficient working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Office.
- Good level sketching, excellent tech-pack creation skills and attention to detail.
- Experience doing research, prototyping and concepting across lifestyle and performance products.
- Cross functional and team collaboration and communication.
- Excellent collaboration skills and an ability to manage multiple timelines and deadlines.
- Proactive approach to identifying the root cause of challenges, seeking the best solutions with a values driven commitment to do what is right for the product and business needs.
- High degree of agility and adaptability, change mindset.
- Growth mindset and enthusiasm for learning new tools and problem-solving
There are also a few skills that are not required but preferred.
- 3D design experience.
- Experience using AI rendering tools.
- International work experience and market understanding.
- Basic pattern and construction capabilities.
- Circular design experience and understanding.

Hiring Range:
$82,080.00 USD - $102,600.00 USD annually
Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential.
