Full Job Description
We are seeking a Fire Protection Designer - Special Hazards to join our growing team. In this role, you'll design and deliver highly specialized fire protection systems that safeguard critical environments and complex facilities. From clean agent suppression to advanced detection and control systems, your work will directly impact safety, reliability, and performance across our projects.

You'll collaborate with engineers, project teams, and field personnel to bring sophisticated fire protection solutions from concept through commissioning-ensuring they are code-compliant, constructible, and executed with precision.

What You'll Do
  • Design and develop special hazard fire protection systems, including clean agent, foam, and water mist systems
  • Interpret architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings to create coordinated system layouts
  • Prepare system calculations and detailed design documentation
  • Develop detection and control system drawings, including VESDA and system release interfaces
  • Participate in BIM coordination and project meetings, contributing to clash detection and resolution
  • Create installation drawings, prefabrication documentation, and material stock lists
  • Conduct field surveys to verify existing conditions and support accurate design
  • Support project teams by preparing as-built and record drawings upon completion
  • Provide technical support to the sales team during bid preparation
  • Assist field teams during system startup and commissioning as needed
  • Collaborate across departments and with external partners to ensure successful project delivery
  • Promote and uphold a strong safety culture in all aspects of your work


What You Bring
  • 5-7 years of experience in fire protection design, with exposure to special hazard systems preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Strong working knowledge of NFPA standards, local codes, and system design requirements
  • Experience with special hazard systems such as clean agent, foam, water mist, or pre-action systems
  • Familiarity with manufacturer-specific design software (or ability to learn quickly)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams
