Job Description

DUTIES: Create subsystem technical specifications (SSTS), component technical specifications (CTS), and statements of requirements (SORs) to obtain required system performance and functionality, in accordance with bills of material (BOMs) and bills of design (BODs). Design and develop Electrical Vehicle (EV) Charging subsystems and components using computer-aided engineering (CAE). Engineer and release EV Charging packaging and routing, using Unigraphics NX and Teamcenter tools. Define electrical interface control document (ICDe) requirements for EV Charging systems, subsystems, and components, negotiating and resolving packaging issues with engineers responsible for interfacing electrical and powertrain components, systems, and subsystems. Determine requirements of key characteristic designation system (KCDS) - the classification of key characteristics to aid in the economical manufacture of quality products. Support Energy Storage System (RESS) Integration Team (RIT) meetings to integrate EV charging component designs into RESS subsystems and systems. Create temporary work orders (TWOs) for EV Charging subsystems and components using the GM Engineering Change Management (ECM) system. Work with BOM family owners (BFOs) to select appropriate materials and peripheral components, reusing parts where appropriate. Perform design failure mode and effects analyses (DFMEAs), design reviews based on failure modes (DRBFMs), and design reviews based on test results (DRBTRs). Ensure that EV Charging systems, subsystems, and components adhere to international regulations. Utilize Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and design of experiments (DOE) engineering techniques to assure optimized and robust design decisions. Monitor and update the GM Problem Resolution Tracking System (PRTS) for issues concerning EV Charging design, integration, and testing, and conduct root cause analysis (RCA) of issues discovered. Collaborate with CAE and Manufacturing Engineering Teams to ensure feasibility of assembly and manufacture of EV Charging components and subsystems, applying design for assembly (DFA) and design for manufacturing (DFM) principles. Execute and support peer reviews, product planning and design reviews (PPDRs), and other reviews per the program milestones. Perform and support product planning and design reviews (PPDRs) and peer reviews at GM Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP) and Global Powertrain Development Process (GPDP) milestones. Work with cross-functional Product Development team to ensure components are executed on time with quality

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field of study and Five (5) years of experience as a Design Release Engineer, Electrical Distribution System Engineer, Product Engineer, Application Engineer, or related role. Five (5) years of experience in the following: Design for assembly (DFA) and design for manufacturing (DFM) principles; Utilizing CAE, FEA tools and GD&T principles; Design for Six Sigma (DFSS); Design of experiments (DOE) engineering techniques; Utilizing Unigraphics NX and Teamcenter tools; TC Vis mockup; SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) standards; Design failure mode and effects analyses (DFMEAs), design reviews based on failure modes (DRBFMs), and design reviews based on test results (DRBTRs); and Component material and design.
