Job description

Uses CAD software and equipment to design new products based on implemented technologies.
Collaborates with customer Engineering to develop solutions tailored to customer's requirements.
Knowledge of company drafting and modeling standards.
Maintain a comprehensive filing system and computer database for all documents to be retained in the document control center.
Ensures the operation of the document control center to ensure the users have the latest revision of appropriate documentation in a timely manner.
Intensive user of the PLM system, Configuration Management, and AS9100/ISO 9001 quality requirements.

- Uses computer assisted design/drafting (Creo preferred) software and equipment to develop designs.
- Creates and revises production drawings (detail and assembly drawings).
- Creates product Bill of Material.
- Drafts detailed multi-view drawings of products, and draws finished designs from sketches.
- Conduct tolerance studies.
- Manage Engineering Change Requests and configuration of the products
- Work closely with French and US engineering team from concept to production.
- Able to interpret equipment requirements to translate them into design of manufacturable mechanical components.
- Able to conduct equipment failure analysis for equipment.
- Have comprehensive understanding of the document management system and the standards for compliance and control.
- Collect and maintain files of the latest revision level documentation necessary to define product configuration and control manufacturing processes as well as customer configuration management.
- Perform various administrative duties for the support of the Engineering Department.
- Responsible for entering, modifying and ensuring the accuracy of engineering data loaded into production MRP system
- Understand and involved on the AS91000 requirement Design Procedures/processes.
- Work closely with Quality, Supply Chain and Production departments to support the development of new programs as well as to support serial production.
- Integrate electrical components/subassemblies in the equipment
- Mentoring colleagues with CAD tool and GD&T standard

Eligibility Requirements:

- Understanding of bearings architecture, failure modes and applications in electromechanical equipment
- Extensive knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Design and Drafting Standards, ASME Y14.100 Engineering Drawing Practices
- Knowledge of aerospace test standards such as RTCA DO-160 and MIL-DTL-810
- Familiarity with product validation (Vibration, Shock and Environmental)
- Designing in both US and SI units and materials
- Thorough knowledge of aerospace procedures, tools and hardware, MIL specs.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude assumed
- Understanding of various commercial aircraft (i.e., MIL-STD-810 / RTCA-DO-160 / Boeing D6 and Airbus ABD) requirements
- Kowledge of manufacturing methods, design-for-manufacturing, manufacturing cost concepts, and materials.
- Excellent in-depth knowledge of drafting standards (ANSI Y14.5)
- Strong technical knowledge about aircraft industry standard design practices
- Strong understanding of certification process for aircraft interiors (FAA/EASA/JAA/CAA).
- Strong understanding of airframe OEM requirements.
- Extended knowledge and skill in use of Windchill PLM software
- Expert knowledge about industry standard 3D Solid Modeling using CREO
