Full Job Description
Description

About This Role

We're hiring a mid-level Design Engineer who turns design intent into a shipped, high-fidelity experience, designing and coding the interface and owning how the product feels in the user's hands. You already use AI as part of how you think, build, and ship.

You'll build the interfaces customers use to move money in production, bridging design and code: implementing screens and components with design judgment, raising the bar on craft (motion, micro-interactions, states, accessibility, and performance), and keeping the experience consistent with the design system across mobile and web. You'll work in a small team with direct access to product designers and engineering, own experience quality within your scope, and partner with senior designers and engineers on cross-product decisions.
What You'll Do
  • Implement screens and components with design judgment, preserving visual and interaction intent and fixing inconsistencies in spacing, typography, contrast, states, and alignment.
  • Own the craft and the feel: micro-interactions, motion, transitions, complete states (loading, empty, error), accessibility, and performance.
  • Keep the build aligned to the design system and consistent across mobile and web.
  • Bring product thinking and data (Amplitude or equivalent) into execution: understand the problem and the expected impact before building, then validate.
  • Move work forward without waiting for final designs: propose the best solution when a definition is missing, and ask for feedback early and often.
  • Use VibeCode and agentic coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent) to go faster, then refine, refactor, and align to the design system, validating on real devices rather than trusting generated output.
What We're Looking For

Must-have
  • 3 to 5 years building production user interfaces, designing and coding.
  • Design and code fluency: strong front-end implementation, reading specs, using design tokens, and building components across web and mobile.
  • Fluency with design tools (Figma or equivalent) and a design system.
  • A high bar for craft and feel: motion and micro-interactions (timing, easing, haptics, gestures), spacing, typography, and visual rhythm.
  • UX judgment in execution: making it feel right, not just look right, including complete states, accessibility, and performance.
  • Strong attention to detail: a critical eye for consistency, catching and fixing issues without being told.
  • Product thinking: understanding the problem and impact before building, and using data (Amplitude or equivalent) to decide and validate.
  • Ownership: proposing the best solution when a definition is missing and moving work forward with autonomy.
  • Daily use of VibeCode and agentic coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent) to go faster, with the discipline to refine, refactor, validate, and align generated work to the design system.
  • Strong communication: explaining trade-offs, proposing alternatives, and documenting key interaction decisions.

Nice-to-have
  • Experience in fintech, payments, or regulated industries.
  • Experience contributing to or owning a design system at scale.
  • Experience designing and building for multi-currency or multi-region contexts.
  • Depth in motion design or animation.
  • Experience sharing craft and learnings across mobile and web teams.
Perks & Benefits
  • Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance
  • 401K Plan with Match
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan
  • Paid Vacation / Sick Leave
  • Hybrid Work Schedule
  • Tuition Assistance
  • Growth Opportunities
  • Corporate gatherings & team bonding events
  • Plumm Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Volunteering day for a charity of your choice
