Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Design Engineer responsible for the planning, design, execution, and successful completion of civil engineering components in large-scale projects within the steel industry. These projects focus on iron ore mining, beneficiation, pelletization, and downstream iron & steel making. The incumbent ensures that all work complies with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Job Responsibilities- Lead and manage civil engineering activities for projects related to iron ore mining, beneficiation, pelletization, and downstream iron & steel making.
- Develop and review detailed civil engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for foundations, structures, roads, drainage systems, and other related infrastructure.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, structural, and environmental engineers to ensure integrated project execution.
- Prepare and review project schedules, budgets, and resource plans ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
- Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and troubleshooting to resolve technical issues.
- Prepare project documentation including progress reports, technical reports, and as-built drawings.
- Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
- Implement best practices for project management, cost control, and quality assurance.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
Skills and Qualifications- 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in civil engineering within the steel, mining, or mineral processing industry.
- Strong experience in iron ore mining projects, beneficiation, pelletization, and downstream iron & steel making.
- Proficient in engineering design software such as AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, and project management tools.
- In-depth knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, and standards.
- Experience with project lifecycle from conceptual design to commissioning.
- Familiarity with US regulations, codes, and standards (OSHA, EPA, ACI, ASTM, etc.).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic project environment.
- PMP or equivalent project management certification.
- Experience with environmental and sustainability practices in mining/steel projects.
- Knowledge of soil mechanics, geotechnical investigations, and foundation engineering.
- Experience with 3D modeling and BIM software.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Experience with contract negotiation and vendor management.
Education- Bachelor's degree Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, or related field.
