About this job:

Responsible for providing vision, strategic direction, and leading teams who work closely with all district-managed schools to support them in driving toward excellence in the areas of instructional and student support programs. Areas of responsibility include specialized student services, academics, multilingual education, portfolio management, college and career success, and extended learning. Works collaboratively with stakeholders to plan, implement, and evaluate District programs. The Deputy Superintendent shall act on matters delegated by the Superintendent. Oversight for budgetary planning that allocates resources in support of the District's efforts.

Reports to the Superintendent and works collaboratively as a member of the Superintendent's Leadership Team as a values-based organization; achieves Board of Education Ends and goals through our shared commitment to Students First, Integrity, Equity, Collaboration, Accountability and Fun. Plans, assigns and supervises the work performed in the areas of responsibility; ensures compliance with District policy and practices and appropriate federal, state and local rules and regulations.

**The Deputy Superintendent must demonstrate a willingness to sign a confidentiality agreement. This role requires maintaining the highest level of confidentiality regarding all District matters, especially those involving the Superintendent, Chief of Staff, and the Board of Education. Ensuring trust and discretion is paramount to the success and integrity of this position.

What You'll Do:
• As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, and in alignment with the Board of Education, helps set the vision and strategy for the organization as a whole
• Leads the drive to continually improve the quality of our schools, eliminate opportunity gaps and ensure that we have Great Schools in Every Neighborhood
• Works cross functionally to explore, develop and implement new initiatives to increase college and career readiness at every grade
• Leads District efforts to be data-driven in school improvement, continuously assessing how to increase performance using both leading and lagging indicators of student academic and whole child success and teacher and leader development
• Leads and manages a team of education professionals who work closely with our schools to support them in driving toward excellence in the areas of curriculum, instruction and assessment, school culture-building, school leadership, college access and success
• Builds a culture of collaboration, teamwork and continuous improvement, supporting the ongoing learning and development of team members
• Acts as chief liaison for schools to key constituencies, including District leadership, external partners, grant-funded partners and community partners, including elected officials, non-profit leaders and the Denver Classroom Teacher's Association (DCTA)

What You'll Need:

  • Master's Degree in Education
  • 10+ years of experience and leadership in urban school systems
  • 7+ years management experience
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.

Standard blackout periods and required attendance, including evening and weekend work includes, but is not limited to the following; district wide professional development, special school or celebration events, Board of Education Meetings, the week before school starts, and the first day of school.
