Full Job Description
The City of New Rochelle is seeking an experienced and qualified individual to serve as Deputy Commissioner of Police. The position reports directly to the Police Commissioner.

Typical duties and responsibilities:
  • Plans and organizes the operations of Police Department divisions, including Patrol, Investigations, Staff Services, Community Affairs, and Youth Affairs, under the general direction of the Police Commissioner.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information received from the Police Commissioner.
  • Implements and maintains effective operational controls and procedures.
  • Oversees the selection, deployment, assignment, and evaluation of department personnel.
  • Directs and maintains division discipline and ensures compliance with department policies and procedures.
  • Oversees department training activities and recommends necessary revisions or improvements to the Police Commissioner.
  • Supervises and participates in the processing of employee grievances, disciplinary actions, and sick/injury cases.
  • Participates in the development and preparation of the Police Department budget.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with city departments, criminal justice agencies, community organizations, and the general public.
  • Prepares reports and recommendations as directed by the Police Commissioner.
  • Participates in public information and community education programs addressing law enforcement issues, initiatives, and programs.
  • Reviews department records and conducts inspections to evaluate personnel efficiency, operational conditions, and areas requiring improvement.
  • Reviews and maintains complete files of all Incident Reports initiated by the Special Investigation Unit.
