Full Job Description
The Deputy Director of Behavioral Health Services oversees and advances behavioral health practices in compliance with OPWDD regulations, New York State and Living Resources agency policies. Provide strong leadership to the behavioral health services team in coordination with the Senior Director of Integrated Health and Behavioral Services. The incumbent will coordinate with the Deputy Director of Health Services to collaborate on interdisciplinary coordination to ensure patient driven supports, evidenced based strategies and fulfill the agency's mission. The Deputy Director will directly supervise the behavioral health team to include clinicians, coordinator roles and interns with strong leadership principles to ensure high-quality delivery of supports, interventions and strategies. - Responsible for aligning and demonstrating the agency's values while performing your job - Ensures communications and direct reports performance reflects the Agency's commitment to teamwork, compliance with policies and procedures and respect for individuals and colleagues - Provides supervision and oversight of the Behavioral Health Services Department to ensure delivery of care in accordance with state OPWDD regulations and established social work, mental health counseling and related fields standards of practice. - Responsibilities include conducting site visits where services are being rendered, performing supervisory reviews and evaluations, and participating in audits and quality assurance initiatives as directed by the Agency compliance department or others, as appropriate. - Ensures that all behavioral health records and related documentation are clearly and legibly maintained in accordance with Living Resources' internal requirements, as well as applicable state and federal regulations. - Prepares for and attends state audits or any other formal investigation process to ensure compliance and provides support to site locations throughout the audit process with assistance and collaboration from the Senior Director. - Promotes and proactively assesses opportunities for improvement to ensure the consistent provision of high-quality care. This responsibility may involve, but is not limited to, participation in internal surveys within the health services department, collaboration with the quality review process conducted by the internal Living Resources compliance team and relevant committees, as well as addressing any identified trends warranting enhancement in collaboration with the Senior Director. - In partnership with the Senior Director, facilitates initial orientation and provides continuous training for behavioral health staff and interns through meetings, professional development sessions, and assigned training programs. Assess the educational needs of the team based on current industry standards, new and developing OPWDD requirements and emerging trends in client care and trends in the human services field. - Establishes a collaborative approach to meetings and care coordination through an interdisciplinary team structure and providing consistent, supportive supervision. - Offers leadership and support throughout agency-designated initiatives for regulatory compliance and innovative program directives including behavioral documentation, systemic improvement strategies, and the daily operations of the department with strong collaboration with the Senior Director. - Attends and serves on internal Agency committees and committee meetings as assigned by the Senior Director. - Participates in the behavioral health evening/on-call rotation, providing coverage in situations where the designated clinician becomes unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances and no alternative coverage has been arranged. - Provides behavioral health coverage during staff vacancies to ensure continuity of care. - Demonstrates responsiveness to agency requirements and needs as well as any directives determined appropriate by the Senior Director or senior leadership within Living Resources. Requirements - Master's degree from an accredited school in Social Work preferred, or a related, licensable field - Current license and in good standing: Licensed Clinical Social Worker registered New York State's professional board or related license - Three years of experience in supervision of behavioral health practitioners in the delivery of behavioral health care services with OPWDD experience OR - Five years of behavioral health services practice and management without OPWDD experience - Knowledge of OPWDD, OMH, DOH, or other similar regulatory environments required - Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and Electronic Health Record Systems (EHRs) - Demonstrated management skills with increasing levels of responsibility - Ability to plan and communicate and work collaboratively with all colleagues and Living Resources management team Preferred Qualifications/Skills: - A master's degree (LMSW, LMHC) or a related field with a focus on health systems - Experience working with individuals with neurodiverse and/or mental health needs - Experience with interdisciplinary clinical teams Benefits We offer great benefits including Paid Training, Health, Dental & Vision Insurance, Payment in Lieu of Health Insurance, Tuition Assistance, and Retirement Programs!
