Description
The Die-Cut Department Manager provides leadership, coordination, and technical subject matter expertise to ensure the departments are achieving all key objectives. Designs, directs, and manages all printing and die cut day-to-day production within specific guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage department personnel:
o Accountable for hiring, maintaining, training, and terminating staff within the department in coordination with Human Resources and the Plant Operations Manager.
o Accountable for managing staffing levels, overtime, time-off/ timecard approvals, regular and frequent performance conversations, disciplinary actions, and policy adherence.
o Responsible for ensuring employees within the department are taught and utilize GMP, Food Safety, Quality, HAACP, and Safety practices in accordance with corporate, plant, and auditing rules and guidelines.
o Motivate and engage work teams to accomplish operational objectives, maintaining a solid floor presence.
o Recognize and develop employee skills, abilities, and talents to create a succession plan and promote growth opportunities.
• Achieve forecast and budget targets:
o Measure and analyze key production and operating data.
o Oversee and chair productivity improvement meetings with technical leads and supervisors.
o Minimize waste by ensuring waste reduction and improvement processes are being communicated, followed, measured, and corrected to reach targets.
o Review all production run estimates for printing to ensure all necessary equipment and consumables are present to produce work and equipment run speeds are being met.
• Manufacture a quality product that meets customer requirements:
o Work with Quality Manager on quality improvement initiatives and corrective action to customer complaints.
o Prepare department staff to handle customer and HACCP audits, municipal and customer inspections, and plant tours.
o Conduct and document regular internal audits to measure outcomes, maintain compliance and attest to quality throughput for customers.
• Work with Engineering, Maintenance, and suppliers to ensure the layout, installation, and start-up of new equipment is performed efficiently, cost-effectively, and safely.
• Participate in an active role in Leadership Team Meetings and establish trusting relationships with other managers to coordinate and support all plant operations.
• Ensure, where applicable, the product safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and legality of all products produced and sold.
• Work in accordance with all company policies and procedures regarding employment, safety, quality, product safety and legality, security, and regulatory compliance as applicable.

QUALIFICATIONS: (education, experience, specific skills, machinery/tools, etc.)
• Minimum 10 years of manufacturing leadership.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, making informed decisions quickly.
• Proven track record of accomplishments and results in the areas of safety, productivity, and product quality.
• BRC, SFQ, HAACP, Six Sigma experience preferred but not required.
• Excellent computer skills working with Microsoft products, and SAP.
Working Conditions
• Ability to work in a hot or cold environment.
• Work around solvents, ink, and adhesives used in the manufacturing process.
• Must wear the necessary PPE for all phases of the job.
o Safety steel shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, hairnet, beard net, etc.
Physical Demands
• Regularly required to talk or hear. Frequently required to walk or climb. Frequently required to stand. Frequently ascend/descend stairs, push, pull, bend and reach. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
