Full Job Description
The Dental Director provides clinical leadership, operational oversight, and strategic direction for MCHP's Dental Program. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality dental services, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, supporting provider development, and advancing the organization's mission. In addition to administrative and leadership responsibilities, the Dental Director actively provides comprehensive dental care to patients and serves as a mentor and clinical resource for the dental team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and oversight of all dental department operations.
  • Develop and implement clinical policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Monitor provider productivity, quality outcomes, and patient satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with organizational leadership on strategic planning and program growth.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of dental staff.
  • Provide comprehensive general dentistry services to patients of all ages.
  • Diagnose and treat routine and emergency dental conditions.
  • Perform restorative procedures, crowns and bridges, removable prosthetics, uncomplicated endodontics, and minor oral surgery.
  • Order and interpret radiographs and other diagnostic studies.
  • Coordinate referrals for specialty dental care when necessary.
  • Mentor and coach dental hygienists, and dental assistants.
  • Promote consistency in clinical practices and standards of care.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.


Qualifications:
  • Education: DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school. Current NC dental license in good standing.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of leadership or supervisory experience. Demonstrated clinical competency across a broad range of general dentistry procedures. Experience leading a multidisciplinary team and practicing in a community health center or underserved setting.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations, including FQHC and HRSA requirements.
