Lorain County Community College (LCCC) invites applications for the position of Dean ofSocial Sciences and Human Services. The Social Sciences and Human Services Division is a robust academic unit that provides courses and programs aimed at ensuring students reach their educational and career goals. The division offers general education courses and transfer pathways in disciplines such as Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Political Science, and History. The division also offers applied associate's degrees in Addiction Studies, Early Childhood Education, Human Services, and Criminal Justice. In addition, the division offers a Police Academy training program, recognized by the Ohio Attorney General's Office as a STAR Academy Training Center, the top designation for Ohio police academies. The division also oversees the Five-Star Step Up to Quality rated Children's Learning Center, a model early childhood program that serves students, employees, and the community. The Dean reports to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Success and provides academic and administrative leadership for the Division.
The Dean is responsible for ensuring that division programs, courses, activities, and events serve the priorities and initiatives within the college's strategic vision, THRIVE 2035. Guided by the college's mission and vision, the Dean provides leadership for the academic disciplines within the division, and represents the division in partnership and articulation endeavors with high schools and other colleges, meetings with local employers, and on statewide panels as needed. The Dean has overall responsibility for the utilization of assigned facilities, program development and evaluation, faculty and staff supervision and communication, and the marketing and promotion of all available services and provides an effective vertical and lateral communication on behalf of the division.
The Dean provides leadership in the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and enhancement of the division's educational program and services; fosters a cooperative and collaborative environment; provides direction for evaluation and review of division curriculum and services; provides direction for the development and adoption of new programs, courses and services; ensures quality, currency and relevance of educational programs, courses and services; facilitates articulation agreements with other institutions and agencies in cooperation with other members of the instructional staff; determines programmatic and service needs through the use of internal and external needs analysis mechanisms; ensures compliance with accreditation and certification standards of agencies and governing bodies; directs the divisional planning process; and fosters an open environment for addressing student needs and concerns. The Dean also develops and implements a student-centered course schedule and a divisional strategic enrollment plan in coordination with the Provost and the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Services.
The Dean directs and manages operational aspects of the division, addresses students' needs pertaining to division activities; assumes responsibility for management and oversight of facilities which house the division and the division activities, including conferring with Facilities Planning Office and Facilities Services on needed equipment, maintenance and repairs; and performs annual objectives mutually determined with the Provost / Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Success, including personal and professional growth plans. Success in this role also requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a commitment to student success, quality education programs, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications: A Master's degree in an appropriate discipline, college teaching experience and/or demonstrated academic leadership
Preferred Qualifications: An earned doctorate (or other appropriate terminal degree) and experience working in a community college setting.
The starting salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
