Full Job Description
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: • Promotes the social, emotional, and physical safety of the student body by monitoring student behavior throughout the school day and at school-sponsored events. • Communicates with parents/guardians regarding the assignment of student discipline consequences as well as attendance warnings based on the number of absences. • Promotes and supports the overall safety and security of the school facility and grounds. • Maintains all discipline and attendance records in accordance with School Committee Policy and state regulations. • Oversees the proper data collection and submission of a variety of state and federal reports, including the annual District Attendance Rate data, School Safety and Discipline Report (SSDR), and Bullying Prevention and Intervention Report. • Maintains accurate student attendance records. • Maintains an after-school Detention Program and In-House Suspension Program. • Assists with the annual review of discipline and attendance-related content in the Student Handbook. • Meets with parents, students, teachers, and guidance counselors to remedy discipline and attendance matters. • Works closely with the School Resource Officer (SRO), regional law enforcement, and state and local agencies about attendance and conduct concerns. • Recommends suspension and expulsion of students when necessary, in accordance with MGL c.71 sec. 37H, 37H½ and 37H¾ and Chap. 222 of the Acts of 2012. • Collaborates with the School Adjustment Counselor and Social Worker to assist those students in need of social, emotional, and mental health services. • Supervises the distribution of the daily absence notification messages to families. • Follows up with faculty, staff, students, and parents on discrepancy reports and referrals and takes appropriate action in line with the guidelines set forth in the Student Handbook. • Oversees and monitors the student parking lot during arrival and dismissal as well as the distribution of student parking passes. • Promotes school safety by being a regular presence in the corridors, cafeteria, assemblies, and school events. • Supports other supervisory staff in bus discipline matters and coordinates the review of bus videos as needed. • Supervises the Deans' Office staff including the Assistants to the Dean of Students. • Collaborates with the Co-op Coordinator to ensure that students have met the conduct-related requirements for participation in the Co-op program. • Promotes a bias-free school culture based on race, color, gender, gender identity, ethnicity, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, homelessness, or limited English proficiency. • Works with new teachers as a resource to maintain good discipline and serves as a resource person to faculty and staff regarding student discipline. • As determined by the Principal, may serve as a designated school representative in court. • Other duties as deemed necessary by the Principal or Superintendent-Director. PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: This position may require long periods of standing and sitting. The individual may be exposed to ultraviolet light as found in computer monitors and copying equipment. The individual may be exposed to various hazards in the building. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: School Year Position Plus Extra Days (Total of 190 Days). SALARY RANGE $80,000-110,000 annual salary EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the policies of the School Committee.
