Full Job Description
Reporting directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean will provide leadership, vision, and oversight for the continued growth and advancement of the University's research enterprise, externally funded programs, and innovation initiatives. As a key member of the University's academic leadership team, the Dean will establish and implement strategic priorities that enhance Southeastern's competitiveness for external funding, elevate its research profile, and expand its impact throughout the region, state, and beyond.

Working collaboratively with faculty, academic leaders, students, and external partners, the Dean will foster interdisciplinary research and scholarship, support faculty development and success in securing external funding, and promote student engagement in research and experiential learning. The Dean will cultivate partnerships with government agencies, industry, community organizations, and other stakeholders to strengthen the University's research capacity, advance innovation and economic development initiatives, and contribute to workforce and community development. Through leadership, advocacy, and resource development, the Dean will champion a culture of inquiry, collaboration, and excellence, positioning Southeastern as a leading contributor to the regional and national knowledge economy while advancing the University's mission and strategic goals.

The Dean serves on the University Research Council and works collaboratively with University leadership to advance research, innovation, and externally funded initiatives across the institution.

The appointment is a 12-month position. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Southeastern Louisiana University is a progressive regional, comprehensive university that enrolls approximately 15,700 graduate and undergraduate students. The University's home, Hammond, is at the crossroads of Interstates 55 and 12 in the heart of Louisiana's thriving Northshore, the fastest growing region in the state. It is centrally located within an hour's drive of New Orleans, Baton Rouge (the state capitol), and the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and affords extensive cultural, recreational, and research opportunities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited university in a discipline (or closely related area) offered by the college
Successful administrative experience as a department head, assistant dean, dean, or other comparable administrative experience
Record of teaching, scholarship and service sufficient for appointment as full or associate professor at Southeastern in a discipline (or closely related area) offered by the college
At least three years of success (beyond the role of PI and/or Co- PI) in securing and administering grants from various sources including federal agencies such as the NIH, NSF, ED, etc.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Familiarity with the contributions and needs of the various disciplines within the university.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS
Knowledge of federal, state, private, and industry-sponsored research funding opportunities, grant development processes, compliance requirements, and research administration best practices.
Ability to create and implement strategic initiatives that increase research funding, elevate institutional research visibility, promote student engagement in research, and contribute to regional economic and workforce development
Ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively across academic disciplines, institutions, government agencies, and industry partners to advance research, innovation, workforce development, and economic development initiatives.

Southeastern Louisiana University is a public university in Hammond, Louisiana. It was founded in 1925 by Linus A. Sims as Hammond Junior College. Sims succeeded in getting the campus moved to north Hammond in 1928, when it became known as Southeastern Louisiana College. It achieved university status in 1970. In the fall of 2019 there were 14,298 students enrolled. During the 1990s, Southeastern was one of the fastest-growing colleges in the United States. The university is the third largest in Louisiana, trailing only LSU and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Southeastern's colors are green and gold, and the mascot is a lion named Roomie.
