Position Title: Dean of Enrollment Management

Reports To: Executive Vice President

Department: Enrollment Management - Admissions and Recruitment, Financial Aid, Office of the

Registrar and The Advising Center

Classification: Salary Exempt, Full-time, 12-months, Benefits Eligible

POSITION OVERVIEW

LeMoyne-Owen College seeks a strategic, data-fluent, and entrepreneurial leader to serve as Dean of Enrollment Management. Founded in 1862 and rooted in the historic Soulsville neighborhood, LeMoyne-Owen is Memphis's only Historically Black College and one of the oldest HBCUs in the nation. The College has recorded its largest fall enrollment in four years, exceeding its institutional enrollment goal, and is launching a new Strategic Plan that places enrollment growth, student success, and institutional sustainability at its center. The incoming Dean inherits genuine momentum and the mandate to convert it into a durable enrollment engine.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President and serving as the College's chief enrollment strategist, the Dean leads a unified Division of Enrollment Management comprising Admissions and Recruitment, Financial Aid, the Office of the Registrar, and The Advising Center. The Dean is accountable for the full student lifecycle - from first inquiry through matriculation, registration, persistence, and graduation - and for the net tuition revenue that sustains the College's mission.

Success in Year One

A board-ready Strategic Enrollment Management Plan aligned to the College's new Strategic Plan, with multi-year headcount, FTE, net revenue, and retention targets; one trusted source of enrollment data supported by a weekly executive dashboard; a fully integrated Admissions Pros and Colleague/Ellucian environment producing clean funnel reporting from inquiry to census; measurable gains in yield, melt reduction, retention, and aid packaging speed; and a division operating as one team with shared goals and visibly improved service to students and families.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Enrollment Leadership
  • Develop, implement, and own a multi-year Strategic Enrollment Management Plan that directly advances the College's new Strategic Plan, with annual targets for new, transfer, readmit, adult, online, and dual enrollment populations and for retention and completion.
  • Build enrollment projection and net tuition revenue models with Finance, Academic Affairs, and Institutional Research; present scenarios, risks, and results to the President, Cabinet, and Board.
  • Use market research, predictive modeling, and competitor analysis to guide program, pricing, territory, and financial aid strategy.
  • Serve as the institutional convener of enrollment, aligning Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Athletics, Band, Marketing, and Advancement behind a single plan.

Admissions and Recruitment
  • Direct a full-funnel recruitment strategy across the Mid-South and key out-of-state markets, including visit experiences, open houses, and yield and admitted-student programming that convert interest into deposits.
  • Strengthen partnerships with Memphis-Shelby County Schools, Hollis F. Price, charter and independent schools, community colleges, faith-based and community organizations, and statewide transfer initiatives.
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications on segmented, multi-channel communication flows, and ensure recruitment territories, activity standards, and individual goals are tracked and coached weekly.

Financial Aid, Registrar, and Advising

The Dean provides executive leadership to the Offices of Financial Aid, the Registrar, and The Advising Center, holding each accountable for compliance, accuracy, and service. This includes timely and compliant awarding under Title IV and state and institutional programs; an institutional aid and scholarship strategy that optimizes yield, net tuition revenue, and affordability for a predominantly Pell-eligible population; accurate registration, academic records, transfer credit evaluation, degree audit, and defensible census and IPEDS reporting under FERPA; and proactive, accessible advising supported by early-alert and case-management practices that lift credit load, persistence, and fall-to-fall retention.

Technology, Data, and Leadership
  • Serve as executive owner of the enrollment technology stack, including Admissions Pros and Colleague/Ellucian, ensuring both are fully configured, integrated, and used to capacity.
  • Deliver accurate, consistent enrollment reporting and weekly funnel dashboards tracking inquiries, applications, admits, deposits, registrations, aid packaging, housing, and melt - one set of numbers, clearly defined and trusted institution-wide.
  • Lead, coach, and develop divisional directors and staff; set clear goals and accountability structures; develop and manage divisional budgets; and represent the College with school systems, community partners, funders, and national professional forums.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the College's mission.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in higher education administration, student affairs, business, data analytics, or a related field; doctorate preferred.
  • Seven or more years of progressively responsible leadership in enrollment management, admissions, financial aid, or the registrar's office, including at least three years supervising professional staff.
  • Demonstrated success building and executing a strategic enrollment management plan that produced measurable growth in enrollment, retention, or net tuition revenue.
  • Direct working experience with Admissions Pros and with Colleague/Ellucian or a comparable student information system, including the ability to configure, integrate, and extract actionable reporting.
  • Working knowledge of Title IV, FERPA, and federal and state financial aid compliance; fluency with funnel analytics, projection modeling, and executive-level reporting; and experience managing budgets and cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, including presenting complex data to Boards and senior leadership; willingness to travel and to work evenings and weekends during peak periods.

Preferred: experience at an HBCU, minority-serving institution, or small private college serving a predominantly Pell-eligible population; leadership of a unified enrollment division; growth of dual enrollment, adult learner, and online programs; familiarity with the Memphis and Mid-South landscape; and experience supporting SACSCOC accreditation and institutional effectiveness.

We are looking for: strategic vision, data fluency, revenue orientation, operational discipline, collaboration across academic and administrative units, student-centered judgment, and the resilience to lead through change with steadiness.
