Job Title: Dean of Curriculum & Instruction
Reports to: Principal
Location: Arlington Elementary School
Job Type: 215 Days

Position Summary
The Dean of Curriculum & Instruction is responsible for leading and managing the instructional and curricular programming at the school level. This includes providing direct instructional leadership to teachers, facilitating professional development, overseeing assessment systems, and supporting inclusion efforts for special populations. The Dean collaborates closely with the Principal and other leadership staff to drive student achievement and uphold a culture of high expectations and academic excellence.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of ELA and Math curriculum and assessments.
• Organize and manage intervention blocks and Acceleration Academies aligned to school priorities.
• Set weekly instructional goals and conduct observations to provide real-time feedback to teachers.
• Conduct both formal and informal classroom observations and provide actionable, structured feedback.
• Meet weekly with teachers to plan instruction, analyze assessments, and support curriculum development.
• Contribute to staff evaluations and participate in evaluation meetings.
• Participate in daily instructional and cultural walkthroughs with the Principal.
• Oversee and support Special Education and English Learner inclusion programs in collaboration with core and specialized staff.
• Design and lead instructional professional development sessions.
• Implement internal assessment systems to monitor student progress and guide instructional planning.
• Analyze assessment data and support data-informed instructional decisions.
• Share best practices across grades and collaborate with other LPS schools.
• Attend district-level ELA and Math Coaches' meetings.
• Serve as an active member of the school's Leadership Team and school community.
• Support the school's mission by doing whatever it takes to ensure student success.

• Strong understanding of standards-based instruction and culturally responsive teaching.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and coach educators toward improved practice.
• Effective communicator with strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to interpret and use data to inform instructional practices.

• Familiarity with Massachusetts curriculum frameworks and state assessment systems.

Qualifications & Requirements
• Master's Degree or higher required.
• At least 5 years of work experience, including significant experience in both teaching and instructional leadership, preferably at the elementary level.
• Proven success raising academic achievement for low-income students.
• Experience in a high-performing school or entrepreneurial educational environment strongly preferred.
• Massachusetts Principal/Assistant Principal (PK-8) or Supervisor/Director License required.
• Belief in high academic and behavioral expectations for all students.
• Understanding that a structured environment is essential for learning.

Pay Range
• $89,967 - $109,460
