Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Database Engineer with 8+ years of database engineering experience to work at the intersection of database engineering, software development, and cloud modernization. This role will support the maintenance and enhancement of LexisNexis' Interaction application, with responsibilities spanning database engineering, application development, performance optimization, troubleshooting, and new feature development. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL/database expertise, C#/.NET experience, and cloud experience, preferably with Azure. Experience with graph databases, vector databases, and agentic AI development is highly desirable. Success in this role requires strong ownership, independence, effective troubleshooting, and the ability to work through ambiguity in a fast-evolving and highly customized environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Maintain and enhance existing database functionality supporting the Interaction application.
• Troubleshoot complex SQL, database, and application performance issues.
• Develop and implement new database functionality, features, and capabilities from scratch.
• Expand and enhance the Interaction platform as business and technical requirements evolve.
• Support ongoing database and application modernization initiatives.
• Work with SQL databases to develop, maintain, optimize, and troubleshoot database solutions.
• Develop and maintain application functionality using C#/.NET.
• Support cloud-based applications and databases as the platform continues to evolve in the cloud.
• Analyze and resolve complex technical issues involving databases, applications, and performance.
• Contribute to performance optimization efforts across database and application layers.
• Evaluate and support adoption of modern database technologies, including graph and vector databases.
• Contribute to emerging Agentic AI development initiatives where applicable.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, DevOps, Engineering, and other technical teams.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Work independently to identify problems, determine appropriate solutions, and drive issues through resolution.
• Take ownership of assigned technical initiatives and contribute to the ongoing modernization and enhancement of the platform.

Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience as a Database Engineer or in a closely related database engineering role.
• Strong expertise in SQL and SQL database technologies.
• Strong experience with C#/.NET development.
• Experience working with cloud-based applications and databases.
• Azure cloud experience preferred; AWS cloud experience is acceptable.
• Strong database troubleshooting and performance optimization experience.
• Experience developing and enhancing database functionality within complex applications.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
• Ability to work effectively in an environment with ambiguity, evolving requirements, and highly customized applications.
