**This Position is Contingent on Contract Award**

Description:

Columbia Technology Partners is seeking a Database Engineer 2 to support the design, development, implementation, and optimization of mission-critical database systems. The ideal candidate will provide technical expertise throughout the database lifecycle, supporting database architecture, data storage and retrieval solutions, system performance improvements, and the development of database software supporting complex enterprise environments. This role contributes to requirements analysis, database design, implementation, testing, and operational deployment while ensuring solutions align with system architecture, performance objectives, security requirements, and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain database systems supporting data storage, retrieval, flow, and analysis requirements.
  • Develop and optimize database structures, schemas, queries, scripts, macros, and data-loading solutions to support operational and business needs.
  • Support and lead database development efforts, including database parser software and database loading software.
  • Analyze system requirements and recommend database improvements, optimization strategies, and maintenance activities.
  • Translate customer and system requirements into scalable database architectures and data models.
  • Develop database solutions that balance data volume, user demand, distribution requirements, performance, retention policies, security, and domain controls.
  • Support short- and long-term database administration and design planning efforts.
  • Collaborate with system engineers, developers, and stakeholders throughout the system lifecycle, from requirements development through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability (IOC).


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and five (5) years of experience as a Database Engineer supporting programs of similar scope and complexity; five (5) additional years of DBE experience may be substituted for the degree.
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining relational and/or object-oriented database solutions.
  • Experience developing database schemas, queries, scripts, and data manipulation solutions to support enterprise data environments.
  • Experience supporting database architecture, performance optimization, and data storage/retrieval requirements.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with database architecture and enterprise-scale system integration.
  • Experience supporting cloud-based database storage and retrieval methodologies.
  • Knowledge of database performance tuning, security controls, and data retention requirements.
  • Experience collaborating across business and technical teams to develop database solutions throughout the system development lifecycle.
