About the Role:We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented
Database Developer with deep expertise in
MySQL and experience in
designing, developing, and optimizing on-premise database systems, specifically in
healthcare EMR/EHR environments. This role is critical to supporting robust, secure, and high-performance data infrastructure for clinical applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of healthcare data systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Design, develop, and optimize scalable MySQL databases for high-volume clinical data.
- Build and manage on-premise MySQL instances including configuration, security, replication, and backup strategies.
- Work closely with EMR/EHR application teams to support schema design, data modeling, and performance tuning.
- Create and maintain stored procedures, views, and complex queries to support reporting and application features.
- Implement database monitoring and performance optimization strategies.
- Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure database reliability and compliance with data security standards.
- Perform ETL operations, data migration, and validation from legacy systems.
- Ensure compliance with HIP nd other healthcare data regulations.
- Document database processes, configurations, and best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:- 5+ years of professional experience as a Database Developer with a focus on MySQL.
- experience building and maintaining on-premise database systems.
- Strong understanding of healthcare data workflows, particularly within EMR/EHR systems.
- Expertise in data modeling, indexing, query optimization, and schema design.
- Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations and best practices for healthcare data (e.g., HIPAA compliance).
- Experience working with ETL pipelines and data transformation.
- Hands-on experience with version control (Git), Jira/Confluence, and documentation tools.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Nice to Have:- Experience with integration platforms like HL7 or FHIR.
- Exposure to EMR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and database performance dashboards.
