Summary:

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Database Architect to join our team. The role supports a hybrid work schedule out of our Newport News, VA location.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead enterprise and solution-level data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical) across complex applications.
  • Develop and govern data standards, metadata structures, and reusable architecture patterns aligned to enterprise governance practices.
  • Partner with engineering, cybersecurity, and product teams to translate business requirements into scalable data architectures.
  • Create and maintain data architecture artifacts that support AI, analytics, and enterprise systems consistent with the enterprise AI stack and governance framework.
  • Monitor and enhance database and data-pipeline performance through capacity planning and modeling.
  • Provide architectural oversight for data ingestion, transformation, storage, and access layers.
  • Contribute to the development of new architectural principles, patterns, and reusable components.
  • Collaborate with program and governance teams to support tool evaluations and enterprise-wide data governance rollouts.


What We're Looking For:

  • 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.
  • Advanced Data Modeling: Expert in conceptual, logical, and physical modeling; dimensional and relational design.
  • Data Governance & Metadata: Skilled in cataloging, classification, lineage, and applying enterprise governance frameworks.
  • Architecture Standards: Ability to define and enforce standards that ensure interoperability, reuse, and consistency across divisions.
  • AI-Ready Data Architecture: Understanding of data layers and pipelines required for AI and model orchestration.
