Job Description

The Data Conversion Specialist is responsible for the design, development, testing, and execution of processes to migrate and convert data from legacy healthcare EMR systems into a CITI's Data Archive product. The Data Conversion Specialist is a key member of the delivery team and works closely with the client project delivery team.

Role and Responsibilities

Data Conversion - Demonstrates technical expertise and proficiency within their assigned area or responsibility.
  • Responsible for extraction and mining of large volumes of data sets from a variety of data sources (Relational databases, XML, flat file formats etc.)
  • Analyze differences between source and target data schemas to properly map data between systems.
  • Intermediate-level experience with Microsoft SQL Server T-SQL to design and develop SQL stored procedures, functions, and views.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of data and applications through analysis, coding, documentation, and problem resolution


Troubleshooting - Uses critical thinking skills to Identify problems and proactively intervene to mitigate negative impacts to projects.
  • Report and assist in resolving issues or problems.
  • High attention to detail to ensure work output produced is free of defects.
  • Applies technical knowledge and seeks to fully understand the client's expectations by asking questions.


Organization and Time Management - Handle multiple projects and tasks and be able to prioritize work ensure timely delivery of work product.
  • Self-starter with initiative and ability to work independently or on a team
  • Must be able to clearly communicate issues and delays to the Project Manager and Team Lead.
  • Knows when to seek assistance to ensure deadlines are met and quality is delivered.


Communication - Understands the importance of effective internal and external communications to ensure project success.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Provides project status updates to stakeholders
  • Document all Issues and requirements for a project to ensure accurate delivery to client


Qualifications and Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor's or Masters' Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering.


  • 1-3+ years of related data migration experience.


Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience working with Healthcare EMR data.
  • Strong Microsoft SQL Server T-SQL knowledge and experience
  • Experience with one or more of the following database types: (Oracle/PostgreSQL/Sybase/Cache/Mumps)
  • Familiar with Azure Cloud Hosting Services
