Full Job Description
Database Analyst II - Cloud for a hybrid opportunity for candidates in Columbia, SC. Candidate will serve as a senior database resource supporting cloud migration, database modernization, and enterprise data initiatives. The role will design, administer, secure, and optimize cloud-hosted databases while helping ensure high availability, performance, recoverability, and compliance across complex technology environments.

Required Qualifications of the Database Analyst II - Cloud:
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to provide sponsorship or work with Third-Party agencies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 8+ years of IT experience with significant hands-on database administration experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud database migration, deployment, and modernization initiatives, including lift-and-shift projects.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud database platforms such as AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, EC2-hosted databases, Azure SQL, or Google Cloud SQL.
  • Strong SQL development and performance-tuning skills, including complex queries, indexing, execution-plan analysis, and optimization of large datasets.
  • Experience designing and supporting high-availability, backup/recovery, replication, failover, snapshot, and disaster recovery strategies, including cross-region configurations.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform, ARM Templates, or CloudFormation.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, data protection, encryption, identity and access management, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to advise technical teams and contribute to complex data architecture decisions.

Preferred Skills/Experience of the Database Analyst II - Cloud:
  • Experience managing both relational and non-relational databases across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Experience with cloud-native monitoring and performance tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Enhanced Monitoring, Performance Insights, Azure Monitor, SolarWinds, or Redgate.
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices and collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with AWS data and analytics services such as Redshift, QuickSight, or Glue.
  • Knowledge of NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, HIPAA, PCI, or similar security and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience automating database administration or operational processes with Python, PowerShell, or comparable scripting languages.
  • Cloud database or cloud architecture certifications.
  • Experience supporting data warehouses, analytics platforms, or cloud-native applications involving semi-structured and unstructured data.

Responsibilities of the Database Analyst II - Cloud:
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain logical and physical database architectures that support complex business and technical requirements.
  • Lead or support cloud database migrations, including planning and implementing high availability, replication, backup/recovery, failover, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Monitor database health, capacity, availability, and performance while tuning queries, indexes, and configurations to meet application and customer requirements.
  • Establish and maintain database security controls, data protection practices, compliance measures, and audit readiness across cloud environments.
  • Evaluate database technologies, upgrades, infrastructure requirements, and architectural alternatives while recommending solutions that improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to database personnel and collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, and business teams on complex data initiatives.
