Full Job Description
SMS is looking for a Database Administrator to join the AFCENT NOSC team. This person will design and deploy database architecture and systems infrastructure for the military IT systems. AFCENT's mission is to deliver combat-ready air, space, communications, and cyberspace capability for USCENTCOM, helping maintain security and stability throughout Southwest Asia. We support the AFCENT Commander, USCENTCOM, coalition and joint partners, and warfighters who rely on NIPRNet, SIPRNet, partner networks, and other command-and-control systems. The AFCENT NOSC program is focused on running and protecting a 24/7 enterprise network and systems operations, including cybersecurity, engineering, maintenance, and technical support, keeping the AFCENT's theater communications and IT infrastructure ready, secure, and available to effectively execute the AFCENT mission.

Job Responsibilities
  • Design and deploy database architecture and systems infrastructure for the military IT systems.
  • Create strategies for performing repetitive tasks such as data acquisitions, migrations, data recoveries and new database implementations.
  • Provide IT support for the review, analysis, troubleshooting and repair of database issues.
  • Define data requirements for database design and implement policies that lead to corporate solutions.
  • Establish guidelines for security, maintenance, utilization, and business continuity.
  • Lead efforts in performance tuning and optimization needed to maintain customer applications.
  • Create documentation that provides guidelines in regards to maintenance tasks, policies and procedures.
  • Perform all routine scheduled database maintenance activities.
  • Work with database vendors as required to resolve database access and performance issues.
  • Perform analysis for collaboration of network / system needs and participate in planning, designing, upgrading and deployment of enterprise datacenter hardware and software using a project-based timeline.
  • Provide General Networking support.
  • Provide LAN support.
  • Provide WAN Enterprise support.
  • Provide technical and general O&M support as required.
  • Provide documentation/reports support as required.

Required Qualifications
  • BS. in related field and 3 or more years• relevant IT experience or 5 or more years• relevant IT experience.
  • Database experience.
  • Ability to apply service-oriented security architecture principles to meet organization's confidentiality, integrity, and availability requirements.

  • Must possess experience and demonstrate an understanding with installation of Microsoft Windows Server in Host and Compute Environments, and Windows Server using server images.
  • Experience with implementation of storage solutions, high availability, Domain Name Systems (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), network connectivity and remote access solutions, core and distributed network solutions, advance network infrastructure, and maintain and monitor server environments.
  • Must possess experience and demonstrate an understanding with managing Microsoft users and permissions, creating active directory domain services (AD DS) forests, designing server infrastructure, troubleshooting, protecting network, and user data.
  • Must possess experience and demonstrate an understanding with C# and XAML, visual studio, arrays and collections, working with variables, managing program flow, asynchronous programming, decision an iteration statements, experience with the full life cycle of web applications, designing asynchronous solutions, working with classes, methods, and data validation.

Certification Qualifications
  • SQL Certification
  • ITIL Foundation (candidate has up to 60 days to acquire ITIL Foundation certification)

Clearance
  • Must currently hold a DoD Secret level clearance or higher
