Full Job Description
Responsibilities

Peraton is looking for a strong Postgres DBA/ Developer with expertise in data modeling and maintaining production, testing and development databases. This role is part of a collaborative and agile team that supports and builds modern, standards-based responsive web applications for mission-critical health IT solutions.

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the maintenance of production, testing and development databases.
  • Brings solid understanding of database administration.
  • Supports development team from a database design and development perspective.
  • Responsible for database administration or engineering activities, ensure optimal performance on PostgreSQL environments. 
  • Responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of PostgreSQL architecture. 
  • Performance tuning of the queries.
  • Provide support to the application developers, including, but not limited to data refresh, SQL, MySQL and PL/pgSQL performance tuning and best practice recommendations.
  • Conduct code reviews with application developers.
  • Ensure the long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are included in the organization's overall database systems planning. 
  • Perform many related database functions across one or more teams, including designing, implementing, and maintaining new databases, backup/recovery, and configuration management.
  • Knowledge of SNOWFLAKE
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
  • Strong MySQL, PL/PGSQL or PL/SQL experience is a plus. 
  • Performance turning of the queries.
  • Experience in AWS RDS Aurora PostgreSQL. 
  • Experience in Complex and high-volume data warehouse projects. 
  • Hands-on experience with Postgres database administration, performance tuning and production support in a high volume, customer-facing apps/environment. 
  • Data Modeling Experience in ErWin  
  • Experience working in Agile/ Scrum large scale programs
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Manages time extremely well, can quickly sense when an issue needs to be discussed or triaged
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on task completion is critical
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance
  • US citizenship or Green Card holder and been in the USA for 3 of the last 5 years.

  • AWS certification
Target Salary Range$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
