Journeyman Data Scientist

Chippewa Government Solutions LLC, a Sault Tribe Inc. ("STI Federal") company, is searching for a dynamic and skilled Journeyman Data Scientist to be a key part of our expanding team!

What You'll Do...

Key Responsibilities & Expected Outcomes
  • Oversee project workstreams involving statistical analysis, ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance with DOE/CMEI standards.
  • Identifywhich datasets are available, accessible, and useful for specific TA projects and program evaluations.
  • Collect, categorize, clean, transform, and analyze data from DOE systems, TA recipients, subcontractors, and program offices.
  • Create,validate, test, and refine algorithms and models used for program forecasting, decision support, and performance analysis.
  • Use data visualization software to present findings clearly to DOE leadership, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ensure all analytical outputs meet quality-assurance expectations and are error-free.
  • Make actionable recommendations based on data trends, model results, and quantitative findings.
  • Support transparency and data integrity across all analytical deliverables.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities for Success
  • Strong statistical analysis and modeling skills with the ability to independently manage analytical workstreams.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data with precision and attention to detail.


  • Experience developing algorithms, computational models, or decision-support systems.
  • Proficiencyin data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Python visualization libraries).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interpret complex findings for non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiencywith Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn DOE systems such as STRIPES, FAST, PAGE, and PMC.
  • Salesforce platformexpertise.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: BA/BS or MA/MS degree.
  • Experience:
  • 3 to 10 years of relevant data science or statistical analysis experience.
  • Performs all functional duties independently at the journeyman level.
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain and/ormaintaina federal clearance up to Top Secret/DOE Q clearance levels.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience:
  • Experience performing data analysis or modeling for DOE programs, energy systems, critical minerals research, or applied energy initiatives.
  • Familiarity with IIJA-funded programs and federal Technical Assistance structures supporting states, Tribes, and local governments.
  • Experience developing analytical products used for program evaluation, R&D commercialization pathways, or supply chain forecasting.
  • Knowledge of federal reporting requirements and DOE data environments (e.g., energy datasets, grant/recipient reporting systems).
  • Experience verifying scientific, environmental, or engineering-related data used in federal program documentation.


  • Ability to create visual dashboards and briefings for DOE cross-office leadership.


Work Environment
  • Environment: Work will be performed in a climate-controlled office, remotely or possibly on client sites as needed.
