Job Description:

The Mapleton Foundry is one of the largest in the United States, located just 20 minutes from Peoria, IL, and home to the largest core making machine in the world! Working at the foundry is hard work that demands focus and safety, quality, and commitment to helping our customers build a better world.

With over 800 employees at the foundry, we are looking for someone who can support process development projects for the continuous improvement of the safety, quality, velocity and cost of manufacturing.

Job Purpose:

In this role, you will work with a team that defines the current state and future state business processes of the factory. Using new technology, this team identifies opportunities to empower production employees and leadership with tools that support operations, make data driven decisions, understand the state of the factory at a given time, and ultimately help us meet customer demand. In this role, you will work both individually and with a team to interpret business requirements and develop them into strategic solutions. You will utilize this information to model data in a data warehouse, create database objects, create data visualizations, and build applications.

Job Overview:

The person in this role will demonstrate thorough knowledge of data structures, database architecture, and performance monitoring. In addition, they will utilize these skills to create data visualizations, new or updated processes/tools/systems, and assist manufacturing leaders in making data-driven decisions. Successful candidates demonstrate effective communication, teamwork, and presentation skills. As an individual contributor on project teams, they should also exhibit strong initiative and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Work as an individual contributor on a team that develops data-driven solutions that support factory operations

• Ability to work with several different teams, balance multiple projects, and prioritize work as needed

• Continuous appetite to network within the facility, meet with different operation teams, review their current processes, and make suggestions for improvement

• Leverage manufacturing expertise to develop data-driven solutions to the issues facing our business

• Develop database objects such as tables, views, stored procedures, and queries

• Support business processes with the creation of Power BI data visualizations, PowerApps, and Power Automate flows.

• Monitor manufacturing key performance indicators and develop improved methods for communicating performance against these metrics to all levels of the organization

• Analyze requirements and make recommendations for facility systems, processes, and training

• Complete both specialized and broad-based assignments / projects which may require collaboration and integration with other functions, departments, or facilities

• Evaluate projects and prepare feasibility studies to define desired results, assess value proposition and determine project plans

• Experience in database development, entity-relationship data modeling, and writing SQL

• Experience with Office 365, PowerApps, PowerBI, Tableau, Snowflake

Machine Learning: Working knowledge of principles, technologies and algorithms of machine learning; ability to develop, implement and deliver related systems, products and services.

Programming Languages: Working knowledge of basic concepts and capabilities of programming; ability to use tools, techniques and platforms in order to write and modify programming languages.

Query and Database Access Tools: Working knowledge of data management systems; ability to use, support and access facilities for searching, extracting and formatting data for further use.

Requirements Analysis: Working knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in statistics, computer science, information systems, engineering, or a similar field

• Experience with software programming and DevOps

• Experience with Python, JavaScript

• Manufacturing experience

Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $158,480.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
