OverviewLMI seeks an experienced Data Governance Specialist to support the U.S. Army’s Holistic Health & Fitness (H2F) initiative as a member of the Data Management functional team within the H2F Program Support Team.
The Data Governance Specialist is responsible for supporting thedefinition, implementation, and enforcement of data governance practicesfor data used within theHolistic Health and Fitness Management System (H2FMS). This role ensures that data supporting scientific analysis, analytics, and user engagement activities arewell-defined, properly managed, compliant, and fit for purpose.
The Data Governance Specialist works closely with the Technical Project Manager, data engineers, data scientists, epidemiologists, research psychologists, and software teams to ensure data assets are consistently defined, governed, and documented in accordance with Government direction. This role focuses ongovernance enablement and coordination, not independent policy-setting or system ownership.
Responsibilities
- Support development and implementation ofdata governance practicesfor data used across H2FMS analytics, research, and reporting.
- Assist in defining data ownership, stewardship roles, and governance workflows under Government direction.
- Ensure governance practices align with H2F objectives and support cross-functional use of data.
- Support creation and maintenance ofdata definitions, data dictionaries, metadata, and reference standards.
- Ensure consistent use of data definitions across scientific, analytic, and software teams.
- Coordinate with data engineers and analysts to ensure metadata and documentation remain current and accurate.
- Assist in identifying and addressingdata quality issues, including completeness, consistency, and usability.
- Support definition of data lifecycle practices, including data onboarding, updates, retention, and archival under Government guidance.
- Help ensure data used for analytics and decision support is traceable and well-documented.
- Coordinate with analytics, research, and software teams to ensure governance requirements are understood and implemented.
- Support translation of scientific and analytic data needs into governance artifacts and documentation.
- Assist the TPM in tracking governance-related tasks, dependencies, and deliverables.
- Contribute to governance documentation, standard operating procedures, and reference materials.
- Support adherence to applicable Government data governance, privacy, and usage requirements.
- Assist with preparation of briefings and materials that communicate data governance practices to stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience supportingdata governance, data management, or data stewardshipactivities.
- Familiarity with data standards, metadata management, and data quality concepts.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams spanning data, analytics, and software development.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain aSecret security clearance.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting data governance efforts in government or large-scale organizational environments.
- Familiarity with analytics platforms, data pipelines, or data cataloging tools.
- Experience working with scientific or research-driven data sets.
- Prior experience supportingDoW or federal customers.
Location & Travel
- Duty Location:This position may be performed in aremote or hybridcapacity.
- Travel: Limited travel to Fort Eustis, Virginia or LMI Headquarters may be required to support planning, integration, or stakeholder engagement.
Target salary range: $85,986 - $145,154
