Requires US Citizenship / Green Card Citizenship; sponsorship not availableThink is seeking a Data Engineer for a client in Cincinnati OH who will play a critical part as a member of the overall Data & Systems team. This person will maintain, enhance, and extend data pipelines. You will be responsible for collecting and transforming data from various sources as well as preparing and distributing data for consumption by the department's systems and analysts. We are looking for someone who has hands on experience as a data pipeline builder who excels at automating and optimizing data systems, with a strong preference for cloud experience.
Main Responsibilities- Build, optimize, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and SQL to collect and transform data from various sources.
- Write efficient SQL queries, implement indexing strategies, and perform performance tuning to ensure fast data retrieval.
- Utilize cloud-based data tools and workflow orchestration systems (e.g., Airflow) to automate data distribution.
- Monitor and troubleshoot existing data systems to ensure reliability for departmental analysts.
- Participate in code reviews and proactively improve workflows to support team knowledge sharing.
RequirementsMinimum Experience- 2+ years of professional experience
Technical Skills & Experience - Proficiency in SQL, query optimization, indexing strategies
- Strong Python for data processing (PySpark)
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, Git integrations, CI/CD (Azure DevOps)
- Experience with cloud-native tools and technologies (Azure, GCP, AWS)
- Building, optimizing, and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines
- Basic infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Understanding of real-time data processing (Kafka, Kinesis)
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Apache Airflow, Dagster, Prefect)
Education- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a computational science or technical field
