Data Architect/Database Administrator
Job Summary:
We are looking for a knowledgeable and forward-thinking Data Architect / Database Administrator to join our team. This role serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for data architecture, database design, administration, and cloud-based data platforms, with a strong focus on advising and supporting integrations. The ideal candidate will provide strategic guidance on the design, implementation, and governance of scalable data solutions across modern cloud environments, while ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performing data ecosystems. Most work will involve architecting, administering, and optimizing data assets within cloud-native and hybrid data platforms, as well as supporting enterprise integration initiatives and data modernization efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the subject matter expert for database design, structure, and best practices across relational and cloud-native database platforms.
- Provide expert-level consulting on database architecture and optimization, particularly in cloud environments (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, Fabric/Azure, GCP).
- Design, implement, and maintain databases supporting both transactional and analytical workloads.
- Collaborate with solution architects, developers, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration of databases into cloud solutions.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external data governance, privacy, and security standards.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging database technologies and tools to support evolving business needs.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Database Architect, with at least 2+ years in a cloud-based environment.
- Deep expertise in database design principles, normalization, indexing, and query optimization.
- Proven experience with ETL.
- Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., Snowflake Certified, AWS Certified Database 6 Specialty, Fabric/Azure Database Administrator Associate).
- Proficiency in relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and experience with NoSQL databases is a plus.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code, scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash), and automation tools.
- Solid understanding of data security, access controls, and compliance requirements.
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with both business and technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong experience with cloud database services such as Amazon RDS, Aurora, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL, or similar.
- Experience working with containerized environments and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems like Git.
- Experience with high-availability and disaster recovery configurations.
- Evidence of serving in a consulting role as a technical team leader.
