Position Summary
The Performance Manager serves as the primary technical and performance interface for a strategic renewable energy fleet operated by one of Vestas' largest accounts, partnering closely with customer engineering teams and coordinating cross-functional initiatives to improve fleet reliability, availability, and overall operational performance.
This role leads complex performance improvement programs, aligns technical resources across multiple functions, and ensures that investigations, corrective actions, and validation efforts are executed effectively and transparently. The successful candidate combines strong technical knowledge with exceptional stakeholder management and program leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Performance Leadership
- Own and manage a fleet-wide performance improvement roadmap.
- Identify performance opportunities and prioritize initiatives based on reliability, availability, production, and operational risk.
- Define objectives, milestones, success metrics, and implementation plans for performance improvement programs.
- Monitor progress and drive accountability for measurable results.
Technical Collaboration and Problem Solving
- Serve as the primary technical liaison between the organization and customer engineering teams.
- Develop clear problem statements and investigation plans for complex operational challenges.
- Lead root cause investigations and coordinate testing, validation, and deployment of corrective actions.
- Facilitate technical reviews and decision-making across multiple disciplines.
Cross-Functional Program Management
- Coordinate activities across engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, monitoring, controls, and digital teams.
- Ensure timely delivery of technical analyses, recommendations, and customer commitments.
- Establish clear ownership, timelines, and communication channels across workstreams.
- Maintain stakeholder alignment and a consistent technical message.
Performance Data Management
- Collect, validate, and analyze operational and performance data.
- Ensure data quality and transparency to support informed decision-making.
- Develop and maintain performance dashboards, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Identify trends, emerging risks, and improvement opportunities through data analysis.
Issue Resolution and Escalation Management
- Identify barriers that affect performance or execution.
- Coordinate resolution of constraints involving parts availability, tooling, documentation, resources, or data quality.
- Escalate issues appropriately with clear options and trade-offs.
- Track actions and decisions through closure.
Performance Governance and Communications
- Maintain structured documentation, including issue logs, decision records, root cause analyses, corrective and preventive action plans, test reports, and closeout summaries.
- Prepare executive-level presentations and business reviews.
- Communicate program status, risks, opportunities, mitigation plans, and support requirements to senior leadership and customers.
Customer Support Excellence
- Promote proactive communication and operational transparency.
- Ensure customer-facing updates are accurate, timely, and traceable.
- Support long-term customer relationships through responsive and collaborative engagement.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Renewable Energy, Business, or a related field.
- Advanced degree preferred.
Experience
- Three or more years of experience in renewable energy, utilities, power generation, industrial operations, or a related field.
- Experience leading multi-site operational or performance improvement programs or comparable experience.
- Proven ability to manage complex cross-functional initiatives.
- Demonstrated success working directly with customers and technical stakeholders.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of reliability engineering methodologies, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Experience with operational performance analytics and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with industrial control systems, monitoring systems, and asset performance data.
- Advanced proficiency in common business productivity tools, including spreadsheet and presentation software.
