Full Job Description
Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Technologist, CT-IV Cert.

The CT Technologist is responsible for performing medically prescribed radiographic and computed tomography (CT) procedures. This role utilizes CT scanners to produce cross-sectional images of patients internal organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes. The technologist accurately interprets physician orders, administers contrast materials, prepares and operates CT equipment, and positions patients to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.

Job Responsibilities:

Imaging Procedures & Protocol Compliance
  • Follows accepted radiologic practices to determine appropriate imaging protocols.
  • Adheres to special instructions indicated on radiologic requisitions.
  • Consults policy and procedure manuals and reference materials to ensure compliance with established protocols and standards.
  • Independently performs patient examinations in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Collaborates with other technologists regarding prior imaging approaches when appropriate.
  • Performs CT and radiographic procedures in accordance with physician orders, departmental protocols, and regulatory standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Patient Care & Safety
  • Assesses patient history, condition, and clinical information to determine appropriate imaging procedures.
  • Uses standard identification procedures to verify the correct patient prior to examinations.
  • Reviews imaging requisitions to determine required exams and consults with medical staff for clarification when necessary.
  • Clearly explains procedures and equipment to patients to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Recognizes the need for and adheres to isolation, infection control, and safety precautions.
  • Modifies examinations as needed to optimize diagnostic quality based on patient condition.

Information Systems & Documentation
  • Demonstrates proficiency with hospital and radiology information systems (HIS/RIS).
  • Selects and accesses patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Accurately schedules exams, verifies orders, and documents exam details including appointment times, exam types, and patient reports.
  • Ensures imaging orders are verified and processed correctly according to departmental HIS/RIS procedures.

Equipment Operation & Quality Control
  • Demonstrates competency in CT equipment setup, operation, and routine maintenance procedures.
  • Performs visual and manual quality control checks of radiographic equipment.
  • Operates imaging and peripheral equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with hospital, departmental, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Identifies, reports, and documents equipment malfunctions and notifies appropriate personnel of missing or damaged equipment.


Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Associate Degree or completion of an accredited Technical Program
Radiologic Technologist (Temporary) Permit required at time of hire
NYS Radiologic Technologist IV License required within 180 days of permit issuance
ARRT Certification in Radiography (X-Ray) required within 180 days of hire
ARRT Certification in Computed Tomography (CT) required within 1 year of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $111,072.27 - $124,021.37 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
