Job Description:Parsons is seeking a
Critical Facilities Assessment Engineer to support Department of War mission assurance and critical infrastructure resilience programs.
In this role, you will assess buildings, facilities, infrastructure, and supporting systems that enable critical missions. You will work with multidisciplinary assessment teams to identify vulnerabilities, evaluate potential impacts to mission execution, and develop practical recommendations that improve facility resilience and continuity of operations.
What You'll Be Doing:- Conduct structured vulnerability, resilience, and survivability assessments of buildings, facilities, and supporting infrastructure.
- Evaluate facility systems and equipment, including building structure, electrical systems, HVAC, fire protection, communications, water, wastewater, fuel, and other mission-support systems.
- Review facility drawings, equipment documentation, maintenance records, emergency plans, construction information, and other technical data.
- Conduct interviews and site observations with facility managers, operators, engineers, military personnel, and government stakeholders.
- Identify vulnerabilities, interdependencies, single points of failure, and potential cascading impacts on mission operations.
- Assess the effects of accidents, natural hazards, technological failures, cyber-related incidents, sabotage, and other relevant threats.
- Develop practical recommendations to mitigate or eliminate vulnerabilities.
- Prepare assessment reports, white papers, briefings, and PowerPoint presentations.
- Support assessment teams before, during, and after site visits.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to mid- and senior-level civilian and military personnel.
- Work collaboratively with engineers and other subject-matter experts to complete assessments and final deliverables.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:- Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, facilities engineering, construction engineering, architectural engineering, or a related technical field.
- At least 3 years of experience assessing buildings, facilities, infrastructure, or critical facility systems.
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- Facility condition or infrastructure assessments
- Vulnerability, risk, resilience, or survivability assessments
- Mission assurance or continuity-of-operations planning
- Critical facility engineering
- Building systems evaluations
- Physical security or facility threat assessments
- Construction, facility design, or engineering inspections
- Active Secret clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Valid U.S. passport or ability to obtain one.
- Ability to travel up to 20% international and domestic.
- Ability to occasionally work non-standard hours or support short-notice site visits, as mission requirements dictate.
- Position is hybrid, but will require candidate to be located local to the office at Fort Belvoir, VA.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:- Experience supporting Department of War, military, intelligence, or other federal customers.
- Knowledge of building systems, construction processes, and facility engineering principles.
- Working knowledge of applicable building codes, engineering standards, safety requirements, and federal facility regulations.
- Experience with AutoCAD, SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience conducting field assessments in operational, industrial, austere, or overseas environments.
- Experience coordinating with military personnel, government civilians, facility managers, contractors, or senior stakeholders.
- Experience preparing technical reports, risk assessments, executive briefings, or mitigation plans.
- Professional Engineer license, engineering certification, or related professional credential.
- Experience with critical infrastructure protection, infrastructure resilience, force protection, or mission assurance.
Security Clearance Requirement:An active Secret security clearance is required for this position.
This position is part of our Federal Solutions team.
Salary Range: $63,600.00 - $111,300.00
