Criminal Investigator, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC)

Salary: Starting at $92,000 - Depends on Experience (DOE).

Primary Duties:

This Investigator position is assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) in the Criminal Law Division of the Office of the Attorney General. This is a sworn law-enforcement position responsible for investigating cases involving technology-facilitated crimes against children, including sexual exploitation, enticement, and sextortion.

Primary duties include:

• Conducting interviews
• Obtaining and analyzing electronic files and other evidence
• Serving subpoenas
• Obtaining and executing search warrants
• Preparing reports and exhibits
• Maintaining investigative case files
• Testifying in court
• Interacting with other law-enforcement agencies
• Frequent travel throughout Idaho is required.

Hazardous Duty Statement: This position requires viewing and analyzing digital content showing the sexual exploitation of children, including graphic and disturbing images and videos of children being raped, tortured, and abused. The employee must be able to manage the psychological and emotional impact of repeated exposure to such material as an essential part of the job. The Office of the Attorney General requires all its employees routinely exposed to such content to participate in a mental health resiliency program run by a certified clinician.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current Idaho POST Certification.
• High-school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of five years of law-enforcement experience, preferably with an emphasis in investigations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Thorough understanding of laws, policies, and rules of evidence applicable to Idaho law-enforcement service.
• Ability to work in a close-knit team environment with other investigators and prosecutors.
• Ability to pass a Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check and maintain CJIS access.
• Must have the ability to frequently travel throughout Idaho, including with little or no advanced notice.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours and be on-call as needed.
• Enthusiasm for public service.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience investigating ICAC cases is strongly preferred.
