Cost Manager, PMO

TerraPower is seeking a highly skilled Cost Manager in the Project Management Office (PMO) with subject matter expertise in estimating, cost management, and risk management. This position will be an integral part of the PMO, supporting and improving oversight of multiple advanced nuclear projects, including the Natrium advanced reactor project.

The Cost Manager leads the cost estimating, budget control, and risk management functions within the PMO. This role ensures project cost data integrity, provides insights on cost performance, and oversees risk management to support successful project delivery.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and oversee project cost baselines, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates and facilitate cost benchmarking activities.
  • Track and report on cost performance, including Cost Performance Index (CPI) metrics.
  • Manage risk analyses, mitigation strategies, and risk trending.
  • Collaborate with project teams to assess and manage cost impacts of change requests.
  • Standardize cost management tools, templates, and processes for consistency across the organization.
  • Provide mentorship and training to estimators, cost engineers, and risk managers.

Key Qualifications and Skills
  • 10+ years of experience in cost management, estimating, and risk analysis.
  • Proficiency in cost management tools (e.g., COBRA).
  • Experience planning, executing, or control of a first-of-a-kind project exceeding $100M in budget, spanning multiple years, and involving multi-disciplinary teams of 100+.
  • Familiarity with scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
  • Expertise in Earned Value Management (EVM) principles and practices.
  • Risk management skills and experience executing risk management plans.
  • 5+ years managing staff in cost management, risk management, or project controls.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to interact with stakeholders.
  • Experience with advanced nuclear projects (preferred).
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field from an accredited, four-year university or equivalent experience.

Job details

Salary Range: $163,423.92 - $217,898.56

Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected candidate's qualifications and experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
